Brake Light Comes on When Rear Hatch Button is Pushed

Last one - car is really in good shape just been sitting along time. When you push the rear hatch button on the dash the brake light on the dash comes on. That is weird!!! Has anybody had this happen?

Yes, this is due to the way it's wired to make sure when engine is running the handbrake is on (and in park) ... I can't remember exactly but I remember being as surprised as you are before looking at the schematics

Just had mine out for a drive and double checked. So yes normal.

When car is running the parking brake have to be engaged (does not matter if in drive, park etc).

As far as the brake light flickering on, that will happen with the key off and the brake lever down when the hatch button is depressed.
The hatch will also open with lever up or down with the key off and hatch button depressed.

Yep that covers all possibilities.

The brake light flickering is the confusing bit when pushing the hatch release button; poor design in my eyes :eam:
