Brake Pull

My TTA has suddenly begun to pull severely, to the left, when the brakes are applied. It is most severe when the brakes are applied quickly as when one "stabs" at the pedal. The pull is less severe when the brakes are applied gradually. Any suggestions? Is this a common problem? The car only gets driven about 500-600 miles annually. Is this apt to be a caliper problem as in C3 Corvettes? Thanks.

I had the same exact problem recently. My rubber brake lines on the front from the hard line to the caliper were clogged. I bought new ones from advanced and replaced them. I would suggest disconnecting all of the brakes between the soft line and hard line and bleeding each brake from there to flush any of the crap out and then install all new rubber lines and bleed the brakes again out of the bleeder screws. Chances are your brake fluid has never been changed or it's been a long time so it's going to look pretty nasty.

This should actually be a warning to all of the guys on here, check your brake fluid, if it's pretty dark in the reservoir you should probably do the same before you start to have this same problem.

Thanks for the recommendation. Did you use Dot 3 fluid or is it advisable to go to silicone fluid as with the older Corvettes?

Use dot 3-4 synthetic,not dot 5 or silicone. As Jared said,don't mess around with braking problems. Fix them right the first time and spare NO expense. Get new rubber hoses,2 per wheel up front.

Drain that master cylinder and run fresh fluid through the system till it runs clear. If it looks dark, like hot tea, you're asking for trouble. Get it out of the system.
