braking point!!!

Last year just before putting the car away, I noticed the wheel would turn to the left when braking. Got the car home and noticed tremendous heat from the driver’s side front wheel.

Fearing that I may have cooked the wheel bearings, I decided to replace both calipers (refurbished from HAWKS), both rotors and placed new brakes on. I feel my problem is worse!

It just seems like the calipers are not fully pulling away form the rotors. Any suggestions?

you can do a simple test, jack the car up put your hands in the 9 oclock and 3 oclock position move from left to right, check for movement

then put your hands in the 12 and 6 position and move up and down and check for movement

if its moving left to right it could be a tie rod issue, if its up and down possibly a ball joint/suspension issue

if its moving every which way its for sure a wheel bearing, check both sides for a point of reference let us know how it is

I know it may be frustrating but this just needs some diagnoses. First you're fortunate to have the 1LE brakes and caliper removal is easy as you know.

I would first get the front off the ground,wheels still in place and spin them by hand and have someone step on the peddle.When they stop and then let off the peddle see if the will roll by hand again immediately. If not, you've already ruled out the calipers by replacing them.

So, probably more than not, your problem has been the rubber brake hose has deteriorated inside and doesn't flow properly.There is a right and left, so I'd relace them first. Bleed 'em and try again.

Other than that you may have a master cylinder problem, but doubtful.

I had an erratic caliper pulling too and new hoses cured the problem.

Remember these cars are 20 years old now and stuff breaks down.:bye2:

As in the flexible lines to the caliper? I bought mine at Autozone.They were special order and a name brand, but I don't recall what brand?
