WHy does it say 1 of 2 made ... I thought there were at least 3 made (1 sent from PAS and at least 2 dealer conversions sent to ASC)?
well... no one knows where this "3" vert is and there is no documentation of where it's at or where it went or who even owns it. The 2 that are out there are known so in my eyes that means there is only 2. That 3rd one could have been made and crushed for all we know. When it surfaces if it ever does I'll change my number of TTA verts
Also did you know.. the "other" vert has a vanity tag on it that says.. 1 of 1. How do you think he feels about that 3rd one! :whistle:

Good one, that would be altering history .... so how many t-top leather where actually converted ... but as they left the GM plant as t-top leather were they really then convertibles ... hmmm not sure anymore
Well.... The verts were in the middle of the production line. Lenny's vin is only a few hundred cars off mine. So they must have just plucked 2 t top leather cars out of the run and made them verts.
ALSO! Interesting bit of information and to back that theroy... The original owner of Lenny's vert gave him a set of factory T tops! That's right.. seems that 1550 number included the t top cars! So instead of it being something different from the ones made. It was just plucked out of the pile as a leather t top car and made into a vert. So yea.. the numbers would then be off. I guess unless you worked at PAS there is no real way to know! :read: :eam: :coffee:

PAS had nothing to do with it being a dealer ordered conversion, guess they grabbed one from the Pontiac distribution center and shipped it to the dealer via ASC or the dealer got the t-top and sent it out for a round trip to ASC .... all convertibles where t-tops as ASC did not do the job on a hardtop is my understanding (window frame being different).
I'm thinking more on the line the dealer sent it out to ASC for conversion. That's how most of the other firebird verts were done as far as I know. Plus that dealer Lenny's is from did a ton of firebird verts back then. They were known for them. They most likely had the t top car sitting there and sent it over to ASC with one of their batches of Firebirds and had them convert it.

The dealerships sent out the cars to be converted.
Years later, during the run of '91-'92, Pontiac had fiberglass (rough) covers that replaced the glass hatch, and the cars were shipped right from the factory to be converted.
