Those were painful to look at. Glad you are bringing it back to life, looks much better after getting primed. Good luck and keep us posted, that will be exciting to watch it progress!

In post #5 with pictures, how coincidental that the handicapped sign is in the background where the TTA is parked. Looks like you are making some great progress with bringing the car back. Good luck with your adventure!
 
Amazing progress!!! I'm seriously impressed. Labor of love there!!!

I keep a small extinusiher in my center console (similar to these)

I can tell you that time and not the size of the extinisher is the key. 15 years ago I had a guy pull into my work with some smoke coming from under the dash (after he instlled a new radio). I ran into work, grabbed the extingisher and by the time I got back out, the dash and seats were engulfed. Too far gone in a few mins. I watched that car burn up and the tires pop in 5 mins. Engine fires burn slower (mostly metal).

Great advice there! I have one in every car including my daily, never know what could happen or see someone that needs it As mentioned, timing is everything.

That said, I've had to use one one time...right in my carport that is attached to the house, could have easily burned down my house. Had a Silverado truck with a Tuned Port motor in it at the time, had been working on it, got it all back together so I thought... Started it up...but I had forgot to finish the rear of the fuel rail..fuel comes right out at full pressure and all over the distributor that right there....POOF...fire everywhere all the way to the ground underneath... Fire ext was right there 20 feet away, grabbed it and it put the fire out quick, all of it...didn't even melt the wires!! But did get the sandy like powder all over the valve train as the valve covers were off.... Had to tear it all the way down and rebuild!

One last thought...BE SURE TO HAVE A FIRE EXT FOR CHEMICAL FIRES!

I was reading about this same issue on another forum earlier today, there was this link given for a pretty good deal on Halon extinguishers:

Halon is a non-residue type.
