Hey Tenton Serial number 1G5FW2170KL243123 is car 844. I own the car and it is in Wingate but now what brought that subject up? Bruce

844 was wrecked in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2006. Motor and transmission was removed. I bought the car as a roller. Looks like it's going to be a ongoing restortation with donations from our Grand National cousins. What I'm trying to figure out is what brought the subject up with Trenton.

It has a clear NC title in my name so there is hope for it yet.
My dad originally bought #844 from John Galena at the West Coast Nationals in Las Vegas on impulse because the price was right for what it was and what was included and done to the car. Only downside was higher mileage although besides the interior need some work it looked like a 2k mile car. I mean, it had the owners kit w tons of extra literature, all the stock parts.. Turbo, DP, intercooler, rims...etc... I ended up with it as my daily driver for years untill one day while out on a cruise with my fiancé at the time a sweet little old lady decided to cross 3 lanes of traffic and pull out in front of me cruising at 45mph. I almost was able to avoid it but there just wasn't enough time. I clipped the rear of her SUV with my drivers side, almost but thank god not directly head on. We hit her hard. Thank god the other traffic avoided hitting us again somehow. Everyone was taken away in a Ambulance besides me because I refused to leave the car. No joke. Besides the whole drivers side pushed in the car was just plain twisted. As much as I loved that car and I really did, still my favorite car it was done for! I was moving back to Chicago and my Father was transfering out of Vegas right around this time. My brother was the only one staying in Vegas and he already had his TType along with 3 other projects. I had just pulled the GN motor out of my Mazda for a rebuild because it was originally done back in 99 or so at the same time Grumpy and ScottysGNZ, GNX7, were building theirs. Insurance ended up of corse having to total it and in the end paying about 2k more than we bought the car for and we got it back. So the "dumbass in my basement" (thats me) Salvaged the motor and trans that was built and ready to go and put it in a MAZDA!! The car sat for a while at my brothers and he then slowly took almost everything TTA specific off and sold what was left of the car. To someone that had plans on getting it back on the road someday god bless him. Its nothing anyone wanted to do but the position we were all in at the time it made the most sense. Over the last few years we sell stuff off here and there and continue to this day to profit from a unfortunate situation. This is a family that my dad got started on Turbo Buicks ever since he bought 2 new Grand Nationals then I think all together 12 or 13 different Turbo cars in every flavor since... Even had a 82 1/2 GN at one point. Sorry for such a long post but I stumbled across a few old posts that made me laugh and wanted to share the story of this TTA as I know it. I apologize to the guy who I wouldn't drop everything and pull my motor out of my don't say it... MAZDA and sell it. You knew what you were getting into when you bought the car. Im all for keeping every classic and or rare car on the street. I have a lot of time and money in that motor and think I have and always had every right to do what I please with it especially since nobody had any clue what they were talking about. I HIGHLY doubt a salvaged 140k mile totaled car would matter if the engine and trans numbers matched. I am very happy someone is going to drive it again someday. Oh yea, I wasn't the one selling 2 window stickers for 1k just FYI. It had to be the person that bought the owners kit from me because I sold both the kit and single #844 sticker only a couple years ago.

All I can say about this is there was believe it or not another TTA this kid I ran into a few times drove in Vegas at the same time. He ended up also totaling his around the same time. There are posts and pictures of both cars totaled on turbobuick.com or turbobuicks.com somewhere. It might have been that car. It just doesn't sound like my brother or anyone in my family to do something like that. I will try and find out what happened.

Thanks for the information turborx6. I have much more info other than the car was a carcass with some interior trim, wiring, etc. The drivetrain was gone and if I recall it was hit fairly hard on the front left. I wanted it mainly for miscellaneous interior parts. No worries, it's been a few years. If anybody knows where I can find some interior plastic panels please let me know. Alternatively, if anybody want's to buy my TTA (54K miles) let me know that as well, lol.
