Center Console Removal

I replaced mine also. You don't have to remove the whole console, just the top shifter plate to access it. It wasn't difficult to do. It is in the top shifter plate where the bulb is located.

Thanks, so you just pry the shifter plate up and pop it out to access it, right?

Is it a miniature 74 bulb in there or a 194?

Remember to remove the shifter knob and be careful when you pull it up because wiring in there, like pwr windows and mirrors as well as the bulb.

I can't remember the size of the bulb but I think it may be a mini. Here is a pic of a bulb out of a spare shift plate I have and I believe it is a mine.

Robert might be right it may be a 194!!

Thanks for the tips with this one. I just had to remove the panel to fix it. Two #7 screws in the front of the console, another #7 in the front ash tray, and then remove the clip on the shifter and take it off, and the shift plate slides up. The bulb is a mini and it was loose. Still worked and screwed it back it. It was all jazzed up. There is a toggle switch installed instead of the center console light. It was disconnected and that's ok, ill just leave it that way.

The shifter plate needs to be replaced though. There are two holes drilled out under the window and mirror controls and one is bigger than the other. Anybody have one for sale or recommendations where I can find one?
