Chance To Make A Lap Around Daytona Intl. Speedway

Getting ready to haul the TTA down to Daytona tomorrow. Kinda of a last minute thing, but the oil is changed and it is cleaned up.

I am hoping to make a lap around Daytona Intl. Speedway Sunday, with some turbobuick guys out of Orlando and other areas. They are supposed to be taking pictures and maybe video.

I hope there will be a few TTA's there, since I have never had my TTA with others before. JAN, by the way I am going to wear my special T-SHIRT!!!

They are calling this the Spring Turkey Rod Run, and it is put on by the same people that put on the Turkey Rod Run around Thanksgiving. Here is more info::beach:

That sounds like a great opportunity! Please take some pictures. I think a bunch of fiero people are going to that event also.

If i had known sooner that could have been my vacation this yr, you got a house on the beach? I'm there   need to see Julio anyhow. that would be really cool to see a TTA laping Daytona

take your duramax four a lap the hell with your tta :cowboy:

Thanks everyone!!!

I am down here in Daytona and the event was shutdown, due to bad weather. Rain and bad storms. You just got to love FLA, nice one minute and terrible the next.
I went to register and they turned me away because of the weather. Told me to come back in the morning.

But on the bright side, if it clears up I know where the Cruise In is. And tomorrow is when I might get a chance to take a lap around the track. My fingers are crossed.:bye1:

Btw , how fast will they let you go? If it were me i would find out what the top speed is in a tta:burnrubber:
You have to go so fast because of the high degree of banking. And they probably have someone in front with a pacecar so you don't go too fast.:coffee:

When I paced the "Bandit Run" around the Kansas Speedway we saw 105 on the scanmaster.

It was a blast getting to do that with TA's ranging from the 69 TA convertible built on Muscle Car to the latest Camaro based bad boys and everthing in between. The view looking back with 80 plus TA's was awesome. Yes, the Buford car was in "hot pursuit". They would not let the Snowman Truck on the track, because the race was a week away, and they could not risk damage.

Hope you get make your run have a blast.

I have the only TTA down here for the event, I did meet another TTA owner from Daytona. I told him about this forum and he wanted to know his car # so I told him about PAS web site where he could look it up.

Getting ready to go to the track, hopefully the weather will be good.

I went to the Cruise In last night, it is at the Ruby Tuesday down by the beach. There was one guy with a real nice 87 hardtop white Gta there. There were a couple of GNs there also. Here is a couple of pics.
I have had 2 people wanting to buy my car, heck if I sold it I wouldn't have anything to work on.

Yep I am here with over a dozen GNs. Will be taking it a lap around the track at 1:30. I wish we had other TTAs here, I am the only one. I look like salt in a pepper shaker with these GNs

Finally got to the track today, we met our group from Central Fl turbo-buick club this morning at 8am. We had our own section in the infield to park. Must have been around 15 of us.

After enduring the hot weather, at 2pm we got to make our lap around the track. It was great getting to go around the Daytona track, I will probably do this again next year.

They gave me a certificate for making my lap and they took pics of the event for purchase when they get them online. It was a blast doing this!!!

Here is a link to some pics, Will add more later.

That is so awesome!-glad you got the lap in. It sounds like a lot of fun. My car is still in the "storage box", counting the days till I can get it out.

Saturday when I got to daytona the first thing I saw was the fiero cars cruising around. Didn't see a pacecar one though.

Cool, looks like it was fun. How fast did ya get to go? Was there a pace car and who drove it?

To be honest it was a pretty slow run. It took for ever waiting in line to go around the huge oval track. It was hot, kinda like it was in Ohio back at the reunion. Since they let everyone make a lap it took well over an hour before they got to our group.

I don't know who was pacing or who the lead car was. I do know there were a lot of officials and police on the track. So you had to be at your best behavior.

I saw some pictures of them down there posted on their forum. I've had my Indy Fiero out and my 82 base car I've been driving a little. But the TTA wont come out till it stays warm. I guess the others are better than none to drive, but I miss the turbo sound! lol

Robert you need to bring one of your cars down to Daytona next year.I hope to attend next year. My AC was good and cold, but some of the GN people said their AC wasn't working. And they were in black cars, ouch!!!
