Chip assistance.

Passenger side.....remove hush panel(with footwell light) ....remove plastic lower dash panel.The ECM is bolted in towards you in an upright position with two 5/16(8mm) screws. The whole ECM is in a holder.....lower it down and remove it from the holder(optional) there is a small cover plate on the ECM box with 1/4 screws, remove that cover plate and your chip is the bigger of the two under the plate. Look for some writing on the chip and report back.
 
You got to be careful not bent the pins. I have never had any problem removing these. I used to do it without a chip remover tool. Just eased it a little on the long ends one at a time.
 
I am thinking that is a stock chip you have, seems like mine had similar marking, where yours does.
 
You have a stock chip. Not to hijack this thread, but I see your user name is Coltsfan; I own TTA #14, a Festival Car that was driven by a WNBC Radio sports announcer named Bob Lamey-"the voice of the Colts". Ever hear of him?
 
Everything else on this car seems stock engine wise, except air intake. Trans has been replaced with CPT 2800 stall. I don't want to get crazy with engine upgrades. Will the turbo tweak chip be beneficial keeping engine stock? Would I need I replace/change anything if I do a turbo tweak chip? Like a thermostat? Thanks
 
You don't want to be getting into too much boost with the stock chip. Wayyy too much timing for today's poor gasoline. The most timing you can run on todays gas at 16-17# of boost is about 19-20 degrees. Stock chip has around 23-24 degrees maybe even more iirc....been a long time since I looked at one.

I would get a chip and 60lb injector combo and be done, they say to get a 160 thermostat but it don't matter as the chip will turn the fans on at 160 anyhow, the chip also disables the EGR so if you live where it has to be smogged you will need a emission chip as well but that's not a issue once it turn's 25yo.

Change the chip @ injectors and you won't believe how much better it runs... money well spent.
 
Robert is right those things do make it run better.

If you place a order for a chip at Turbotweak you should get a scanmaster if you don't have one. I would not even drive around the block without one.
 
Call Eric Marshall at Turbo Tweak. Tell him what you have and what you want, and he will set you up with the best chip for your needs.
 
I got the chip and the scanmaster. how bad am I goin to want the injectors now? goals are only upper 12's for the car

Stock inj. will be fine for 12's but the 60lb idle so much better and leave's room to grow. You would also need to have the chip reburned with the 60's unless you get the combo to start with.

Lol... Then it will be low 12's... Then upper 11's then maybe mid-11s... You are at the first steps of a major addiction! Be careful as I'm sure a crack addict said..yeah let me try that this 1 time :)
 
I already have the wagon for things that are quicker. this was my answer for when people wanted to trash talk with their "quick" cars

42.5# injector would work well. Even the blue top's (36#) would work for high 12's and they idle great!

Toys like you have, it won't be long before you have a set of ported heads , 66 or 67mm turbo, converter , alky kit.... lol 60's# are in your future.

Nice!Always wanted a fast street bike...wife says hell no I drive crazy enough! Any chance that is Wataga, TX you are from? That's right down 820 from me if so, I'm off hwy199.
 
Good info but will I need a bigger fuel pump as well? I can handle doing a small group mod like this (chip,injectors,pump) but I dont want the mods to be a stepping stone to additional ones that HAVE be added because I opened pandoras box if that makes any sense
