Why didn't the turbo have the heat shield on it like the GN? (pic below)

Why did the engineers opt for a shorter (than originally used on the Grand National) serpentine drive belt on the TTA ... 1605mm vs 1618mm (if I remember correct). With the setup being identical it would be interesting to understand why.
Isn't the huge accessory bracket mounted to the non GN cylinder head. That may be the reason. Still would want to know Scott's answer.
