Converting to 8" Cone Filter

I would like to convert to an 8" K&N Filter. I was looking at the kit form Kirban (Mass air pipe, bracket, and 8" filter). My question is regarding a sensor that is in the 90 degree elbow pipe going down to the stock air filter assembly. Where do you relocate that to? What does it do?

I just cut a small hole in the rubber of the cone where it slipped onto the Mass Air Flow sensor. I'm not calling it the best setup but it worked. This summer I just got a new MAF tube that has a threaded piece welded into it for the sensor to screw into.
