cooling fans

Somebody had a cooling mod listed on their website. I thought it was Ratfink, but I didn't see it. It involved jumping the relays. Anybody remember where that is?
 
There is a air cOnd relay by the pass fender. You have to ground one of those wires. I can check when I get home and post pics

I got a switch in the car (my ashtray switch pod) to turn this on, it would engage the timer relay as well to keep it running for a while if needed.

Easiest is just a switch next to that relay but more convinient to have it close to the driver somewhere :-)
 
I think the mod I saw involved a jumper wire so that the fans always turn on at the same time. I don't think there was a switch. It involved installing a jumper possibly between the two ground wires on the relays so that whenever there was a call from either the ECM or the AC to turn on the fans, both relays would be triggered to turn on.
 
If you bypass that AC pressure switch, won't the AC fan run continuously? If you jump the grounds at the relays, they will only turn on when the car is hot or the AC is on, but both will come on.
 
I prefer to be in control lol .... hence me doing this:

"What I did on mine was to install a switch in my ashtray to just ground the dk green/yellow wire from the pressure switch to activate the delay relay for the high speed fan. Works well for me and I can turn it on / off as I like."
 
Here is what I did, very very easy. There is a relay by the battery with three wires. I soldered a wire to the green wire and then put the other end of the wire to ground and done!!!! My fan always comes on when the key is on and my fan delay still works. Temps are around 164 all day and 170 ish if really hot.

i agree , though i may do the other at a later time . dont make sense that GM did it that way , but after dealing with the oil drain on the turbo , i dont know why im surprised , which by the way i may have to take the turbo back off to fix the leak :thumbdwn:
