Cost of work

BuickGN

TTA# 130
Was wondering if anyone could give me the price of what someone charged them for changing a rear main seal? Someone said it's a little more work than the GN because the engine is in their tighter. What about adding putting in the power plate to? Had old friends do the work but think there charging me a lot.

i would think 400.00 min would be fair .

Yeah depending on hourly rate, I'd think you'd be looking at about 1-2 hours for the PP and 5-6 hours on the rear main seal. The rear main is a pain in the ass because you have to lift the motor to get the oil pan off. So for a local mom and pop place I'd think about $400-500, for a well known repair shop or someone specializing in TBs I'd think $500-750 for labor.
