Since we jacked the other thread i will start another about rear spoiler's and downforce... my thought has always been they affected very little except at high speed's were downforce was needed, but i'm not a engineer either so mybe we have some here ? Would be a good question for Mr. Kelly....

I talked to a TTA owner several years ago (John's Performance - no longer in business for TTA specific mods) that got his TTA up to 183 mph with no additional body enhancements or suspension mods, I think he did say "it felt a little squirly".

Gale Banks used the 85 trans am for his 200 mph streetable twin turbo T/A back in the mid 80's. I think it did have suspension mods maybe, but it looked pretty stock. These rides are pretty good at top speed runs. I've pegged my speedo several times, felt pretty stable to me.

This car went 300mph with the stock 85-90 aero wing. I think its very stable at 200mph, (which I have done in my car)

Im also aware that Gale Banks had more than one car different configurations to achieve different speeds...

Where were you able to achieve 200 mph speeds at? There has to be some sort of record of that?

Lets just say it was on a "approved test track" GPS was used in all the cars I've gone 200mph plus in, two TT C5s, 5 supercharged C5-6s, 2 Ford GTs and my beater 89 Formula 350 (no, its not stock)

Its not as hard as you'd think, when you have waay more power than needed.

I know this much, a third-gen will handle top speed ALOT better than a first or second gen will ... ask me how i know..:burnrubber:

There is different types of long distance sanctioned races where you can get up to those speeds on public roads that are closed courses for the event. Texas Mile being one of them, I think the record at one of those events is around 270mph in a GT. There is a TTA that participates in it around here.
