Emblem question

I just purchased the emblem on the lower rocker panel, Indianapolis speedway. It has a trademark under the "ee". It is still in the original packaging. The ones on my car do not have this mark. I did a search on the forum but could not find an explanation for the variance.

I do have both in my stash of NOS parts. Photo of one attached.

The originals that came from the factory do not have the Registered trademark on them ... the early over the counter replacements did not either however at some point (not sure when) they added the R to them most likely due to a request from the Indy Speedway.

So factory correct would be without and that's why the reproductions out there don't have it.
