emblem removal

Hi guys,

I have new emblems for my car. I am wondering what is the safest way to remove the old emblems and clean off old adhesive??? I don't want to scratch the paint. I have never done this before but want to freshen up the look of my tta with new emblems and decals for tta 733.

While I haven't tried this myself I've heard dental floss or fishing line and a hair dryer. I would suggest being careful with the heat setting and distance on the dryer.
 
I have one of those heavy duty heat guns like you buy at Home Depot. I hit the emblem with that maybe 6 to 8 inches away and wave it back and forth. I used some needle nose pilers and got behind it a little bit very lightly prying the emblem. All of a sudden the glue will loosen and it will pop right off leaving just about nothing behind if you get the heat right. I did all the badges on my TTA this way with fresh ones. Use caution tho. When that sucker comes off it's gonna be hot as hell! If your fast you can re-glue them to your tool box before they cool off! :)
 
Take your time and try to use a thin plastic wedge of some sort to get behind the emblem, I tried the dental floss approach but did not work for me. The used a squeege and carefully pried the emblems off. Make sure you don't bend the ebmlems in anyway doing it.
 
+1 on what every one else said on the removal, but before you remove the old emblems, box them in with easy removable thin masking tape, that way you know the exact location of were the new emblems will go w/no second guessing.
