engine management system

So I am wondering what the big advantage is to having an aftermarket engine management system such as BIG Stuff3, Fast XFI, or accel. They sell for alot of money so I guess you must get good results. I am running 11.2 on my old set up with the stock ecm and a TT chip. My main concern is to have the motor running smooth and without knock, I can achieve this with the scan master so is there any advantage to the expensive aftermarket systems??

What do you guys think of these systems??

Thanks,

Jarred.

Yeah there's a lot of advantages with those systems. You can run better sensors and more sensors, like a wideband O2 sensor to tune off of. You can add a lot of different systems to the like boost control so you can make the boost come on progressively to get better traction off the line, you can program a two step launch control, a lot better logging than what you get with a Scanmaster, and a bunch of other stuff. For those who like to get more technical with their stuff there is also MegaSquirt which is more of a build it yourself type system, but it can get really complex quick.

With that though, if you're running a 11.2 then there's no reason to upgrade. The FAST type systems work great when you're in the low 10s and faster or when you're swapping the drivetrain into something that it didn't come in since you have to redo all the wiring anyways.
