I thought I would try a Ravin Z55 on the TTA. WOT sounds very good as well as idle. But around 2000-2500 it is pretty deep. Overall, I am pleased. Next time I will probably go with the Dynomax Ultraflow like I orginally planned. I wanted to get the exhaust squared away all at once so I replaced the test pipe ( leaking a bit) and I replaced the muffler. That was the only performance muffler available at the time. Any thoughts? Power gain/loss? Almost 200 bucks to install the test pipe and muffler (tips welded on). Also, where is the drain plug on this aluminum radiator?

Did you get a test pipe with the cutout or just the straight through pipe?
Is your radiator stock? If yes, the drain plug is on the bottom passenger side. You may have to look around a bit.:thumbup:
 
Hi TurboJoe, If my memory serves me right (I'm getting old), I bought the same muffler from Midas Muffler for my 1993 T/A which I had a couple of years ago. I went with the entire catback (expensive)and was impressed with the sound, however, I only gained like 2 hp from the entire catback. I should have done my homework but I wanted a deeper sounding system and it was kind of a impulse buy. :mad: I was told but I can't confirm that Raven is an off brand of Crapmaster (Flowmaster) which does not flow well. I have heard that many of the LS1 owners actually lost Horsepower when going to flowmaster but I don't see how, it's gotta flow better than the stock. My friend had a TTA and he put a dynomax muffler, I believe, on his and it sounded good. I have a magnaflow catback which is stainless on my 2000 T/A that sounds very quiet until you get on it. Much louder than stock. I don't know what your goals are but you could put the original back on if they didn't destroy it. Hope this helps.
 
The mechanic installed test pipe without a dumb. He clamped in front of the test pipe (near braided part) then he cut and welded the end of the test pipe to the stock 3" ? pipe which goes the the muffler. Yes, He cut and welded in front of the 3" pipe? sh&# He then reattached muffler and welded the dual tips on both sides of the Ravin Z55 muffler. Do you guys think I was foolish to cut and weld the 3" stock pipe? Ruin future resale? Do you think I actually added anything other than sound to the vehicle? Yes, I read about the Ravin. Some of the Mustang and 3rd Gen. T/A used them for there V8's. They are comparable to the Flowmaster and has a 375 cfm. I read that thread as well about the horsepower lose on the Flowmaster through the LS1.
Yes, I bought on impluse!!! I figured I would never sell it anyway so...
I still have the stock cat but the muffler is gone. What do you guys think? I will not be offended what so ever. Let me have it. Moron?

Hey TurboJoe, it sounds like you are kinda regretting the install. I don't know much about hurting the resale value. Maybe? I personally don't think you gained any HP but I don't think you lost any either. You want to get a muffler that flows over 500cfm, that it what I have heard anyway. I would have also bought a stainless steel muffler, they look great. What color is your muffler, I hope not the same black color mine was (Ugly). I know it kinda stinks to spend the money and not get the results. Been there!!! Maybe you can find a catback on ebay.
 
Kind of... I really think he did a great job. Everything is neat and tight. However, I kinda wish he would not have cut and weld that 3" pipe and saved the muffler. I do not mind the sound at all. Yes, it is that black color and Yes it was from Minus. I was trying to add a performance exhaust for less. So, you don't think I accomplished anything?
 
Unfortunatley from experience no, you probably didn't gain anything, but like you said it sounds better right. What are your ultimate goals? The mods you have so far seems pretty close to stock, so you should have no problem bringing the car back to stock form, minus the muffler and the area around it. Is the TTA going to be a drag car or are going to keep it mostly stock because of the resale value? Sounds like you take great care of your cars!!! Have you ever taken it to the track?
 
No, I am one of those freaks you clean my car everytime I take it out. Mine is really MINT. I just installed new Autolite 103's and a fuel filter and used the expensive Red Line Oil as well as the exhaust. I will probably never race it. That is why I kinda regret screwing with the stock form. I know I will never sell my TTA. It's been my dream car for several years. I just wanted a resale for protection.

I see " sverble " TTA and I start dreaming! You know what I mean.
 
I am sorry if you miss understood me I meant you sound like you pay very close attention to detail. Awesome. It sounds like you want to bring it back to stock form and have it run in the 12's. Here's an idea get another one and mod it. :idea5: If you have the money of course I don't. Also I read your other article in the chip section, I wouldn't be guessing either, not only will it hurt the performance but it is bad for your engine. You will also get bad gas mileage like I did. Put the stock chip back in and have fun.
 
What a mistake. I ruined the stock exhaust. I think I am going to bring it back to stock. I will need that 3" stock pipe that goes from the cat to the muffler. The cat is still in excellent shape. I am going to have to install a new hangar as well. I am going to have it better than new this week. Sorry guys, what a moron I am. Best car ever created and I had to mess with it.
 
So I take it you found a stock exhaust? Awesome. Escpecially since those collectors know if a car's been modded in the least bit. I don't think it's work an second or so in the quater mile if you are not going to race it anyway. :cheers: Plus if you are not car savy you going to constantly tune your car and replace expensive broken parts. I have a 2000 T/A with all the bolt on's plus NOS and probably diminished it's resale value but I don't really care because I probably will never sell, just give it to my grandson. I love taking it to the track.:boxing:
