Finally bought an LS powered vehicle

It's been a while since I've been on here, I've been really busy since I started work. A couple weeks ago though I finally bought an LS powered vehicle, something I've been wanting to get for the past couple years since I really love the LS engines.

On my way down to Texas, my 98 Mazda 626 decided to kill itself about half way there by spinning a bearing with 138k on it in St.Louis. I ended up getting a rental car to make it to Houston, survived a couple weeks during training without a car and then borrowed a car from my brother for a couple weeks while I continued my search.

I finally found this 2008 Trailblazer SS with just under 40k miles, it's got all the options outside of the rear entertainment package; nav, sunroof, leather, and heated seats. In addition it has a few mods from the last owner includding lowering, cam, Kooks 1 7/8" headers, corsa exhaust, tint, and a couple other little pieces. The truck is too loud for me right now so I'm going to try getting a catted-y in hopes it'll quiet it down enough and then go from there since I like the all stainless exhaust. The truck made I think 410 rwhp and ran a 12.8 on drag radials with the previous owner.

So far I really love it, it's quick, and fun to drive while providing the storage and towing cap that I need. I already removed the volant stickers and door emblems and ordered some rubber floor mats (I'm normally wearing muddy boots in it for work). Future mods include some HIDs, euro headlight housings (clear turn signals), change the sound system (the stock bose system sounds like crap), and probably a magnusson supercharger sometime next summer with mods to support it.

What did you buy Jarred? I don't have the weird accent, so at least people can tell us apart, although I'm starting to pick up some texas-spanish at work.
 
Congrats! You'll love the LS, they rev forever and power/torque are about equal through the power band, Smooth too...

Yeah we bought a 98 Trans Am new for my mom and then she gave it to my brother, so I've kind of grown up with the engine. The T56 paired with an LS motor is an amazing combination, it's still a top performing combo 10+ years after it's release in gas mileage and performance. I remember a couple months after buying our Trans Am while we lived in South Florida we cruised up to Northern Florida and got almost 30 mpg doing 70-75 mph. The same car made like 305 rwhp at the Trans Am Nationals several years later completely stock down to the air filter (that we shook the dirt out of), beating out most of the 01/02 TAs at the show.
 
nice looking truck is it rwd or awd ? A tune makes a world of diffrence ... did u hook up trailer brakes on it ?

Must be that time of year. We just bought our first LS powered car too Wednesday night, a 2004 C5 Convertible for my wife. It is so sick. No where near the beast the TTA is though, but does ride a little smoother I must admit.

It's RWD, when I found out that the AWD models had an intermediate shaft that runs through the oil pan I decided I only want a RWD. The truck was tuned by Joe Honeycut at LMR, he's one of the best LS tuners out there right now. We didn't have trailer brakes on that trailer, it's a pretty light load.

Nice vette Kman. I think a C6Z06 or CTS-V will be the next thing on my list of cars to get in the next couple years.

I am with you on the cts-v. The Z06 is just way out of my price range but sure would be fun to drive. The dealer we bought the vette from was a chevy/caddy dealer and while we were there we were looking at the caddy's and they are really sharp, but the cts-v's are outrageously priced too. If I ever got one it would be a nice used one for half the price. LOL
 
You guys have to stop showing off all you LS stuff. You're going to force me to go out and make an impulse purchase!
 
Well, add another one to the "finally bought a LS powered vehicle" list.

Been looking for one of these for a while and checked this one out in Dallas last week when I was there for business. Flew back yesterday and drove it home 900+ miles.

Nope, won't be my DD. I've got my old Bonnie SSEi for that.

BTW, I averaged 21-22mpg on the trip home, Dallas to Atlanta. I bet you Bandit didn't average that! :cheers:
