First Race.

My friend and I have been debating who ride was quicker. His 2002 LS1 Camaro SS or my TTA. We went on the local highway last night tested each other. We both line up as his friend raised his arms in the middle of the road. Man was I nervous, foot was shaking a little bit. I had brought my car to about 2200 rpm, then his friend gave us that signal and I mashed it. I had him about at 60 about 1 1/2 - 2 car lengths , then we stopped at about 85 mph where I had him by almost 2 1/2 cars. I was very proud of myself and my TTA. He smiled and said I got lucky. I replied "cool" .
Overall I was thrilled. Then I made my way to the car wash, then went home. Yes, his is competely stock where mine is not but mine is almost 20 years old so....
Great race, I got the first race out of my way along with the jitters. Thanks for reading and everyone have a nice day.
 
Great job!! I know the feeling.

Now you know why we take car of these machines, they get the job done...no matter at what age.

Great Kill TurboJoe. :boxing: 2 1/2 car lengths at 85 MPH on a LS1. That must be a mid 14 second LS1. :cry: According to your G-tech times that should have been an even race. 2 1/2 car lenghts is a SLAUGHTER IMAO. There is no way you should have beat a stock 2002 LS1 by that much if you are only running 13.4 with an alltitude correction. HMMM.:boxed: Sure it wasn't a riced out V6 or a REALLY BAD DRIVER. I consistenly ran better times than my friends TTA but his was stock. Either way you won so It really doesn't matter.:dance:

The 2002 has the LS6 intake and some have the ls6 block and run low low 13's at the track all day trapping 107 mph some even touch 13.00 !!! I never beat a 2001 or 2002 LS1 at the track. I raced three and only once I won because I had a better reaction time but his time was .15 seconds faster. They would always trap at least 1 mph more. Goes to show you anything can happen on the street:worthy: The better driver almost always wins on the street!!!! You were the better driver!!! :cheers: Congrats again. Now bring it to the track and send in some slip times.:WOOT:

Also beware of the G-tech. They are not reliable. I had one that you attached to your cigarette lighter (Don't know the model) and it said I did 13.1 in the 1/4 stock. I went to the track where the conditions are always better and went 13.4. .3 is huge, especially at the track. When I put the mods in it and ran without the NOS I ran 12.3 on the street with G-tech and only hit 12.5 at 109mph at the track and I dead hooked!!!

What is the altitude in NY? You said it was 13.4 corrected, what was the actual time?
 
I don't think he great driver but I won regardless. I read about these LS1's on how fast there are and how much they trap but they feel a little doggish down low. I have drove in couple now. I can lay rubber at 20-25 mph. Neither of the LS1's could do that. I was impressed when he first took me for a ride when he mashed it at 65-70mph I was like WOW, but when he hit it around 5-10 mph I felt WAY less pull then my TTA. Of course all these LS1 were stock. I will race him again and see if it is any closer. As for my 1/4 times my tech explained it to me when he let me borrow his g-tech ss. Actually, one of my buddies told me the g-tech was NOT that accurate too! But like everything, everyone has there own opinion. Thanks for the reply. Very thankful. JOE
