Foam filter for turbo vacuum contoller

There is a vacuum control on the passenger side valve cover that has a hose that runs to the turbo. I understand that the second port should have some sort of foam air filter on it. It is missing from my car. Is this something I can make myself or buy?
 
Kirban Performance sells them. Or you can fashion one yourself out of soft foam. Most cars I've seen are missing them.
 
Thanks for the quick reply. I just noticed that it was missing and wasn't sure how important it was. I am in the process of replacing all of my vacuum lines.
 
I bought 2 from a GN parts supplier on e-bay. Glued both on and both are now long gone.

I've given up....
 
Thanks Jan - I have to look through their site and see if there is anything else I need. The part is 3.95 and the shipping is 6.95
 
Yep - I just saw that too. Kirban has one on Ebay for 6.95 and 6.95 shipping. That filter has to cost about 25 cents to make. It looks like GM sold them in packs of 10. Does anybody have a part number to check it out? I'll buy 10 and have them as extras. It sounds like something that likes to disappear.

I've had the same one I put on there well over a year ago, still on there.

I did like Jan said and I used the rtv silicone, I believe I used the clear.

Got the 3 from NOS4GN.COM
 
OK - I just bought a bunch of them on Amazon. If anyone needs one let me know. We can do the same thing with the screws and fasteners and sell them a lot cheaper.
 
I bought a whole bunch of these. If anyone needs one let me know. I will sell you one cheap, just to cover my costs.
 
BTW - how do they fly off? I had to pry open the little metal bracket to get it on. It seems the only way they would get lost is if the little metal bracket was missing.

Most of us don't have that metal clip/bracket thing .. the replacement solenoids don't have them and I'm not sure if it can fall off the original solenoids or not.

I put a small dab of black rtv on mine when I installed a new foam filter on there. And it's still there lol
 
I just noticed that the bracket that holds the filter on my boost control solenoid is similar to the bracket on some early 80's Chevy EGR valves. It might be worth scavenging one off an old EGR valve if you keep having a problem with the filter coming off.

Yes, and also the filter fits far more cars besides the turbobuick engine cars.:google:
