Fuel pump recomendations

I ran mine at the track for the first time yesterday and was quite happy to have back to back 13.4 runs at 101 MPH. Especially considering my new 87 GTA 350 TPI only ran 15.9 back in the day.

I have a power logger and our local GN guru told me not to run it again until I do a fuel pump & hotwire kit. He said it was running 105% fuel injector duty cycle and still not getting enough fuel. I have a TurboTweak chip, LS1 MAF with K&N filter, 160 thermostat, adjustible actuator and I think that is it. Powerlogger shows 12 lbs boost and an aftermarket gauge shows about 14.

I would appreciate any recommendations on what kind of fuel pump to buy please. Also, is the MPH of 101 low for 13.4 runs?

I don't know but 13.4 is damn good for 14psi. When my car was stockish I ran race gas with 23 psi. At that time my car ran 13.11 @107. The higher boost is I'm sure the difference. I did have a walboro pump in the tank as my second mod (cat was removed first).

As for your performance, dc that high while still showing lean you definatly could be running out of fuel. My bone stock #850 went 13.37 @ 103mph - aside from a walbro fuel pump the only thing done to the car is fresh fluids and tune up, 60K miles.

13.4 is a nice time first time out, what was your 60foot, and 1/8 mile time and speed? Stock 16.5 psi boost should give you about 104-105 trap speeds. 101 at 14 psi is not bad, your 60' musta been in the low 1.9 or hi 1.8's

105% is alot of duty cycle, indicates not enough fuel however, I would look first at the fuel pressure regulator, static fuel pressure with vac. hose off should be in the 42 psi range, you should see a pound for pound increase in fuel pressure as boost increases. the pressure could be low due to a marginal fuel pump or a bad regulator. To be safe I would go with a good adjustable regulator and the new fuel pump.
IMHO the TTA has better fuel pump wiring and the hotwire is not as nessisary.
These cars are notorious for killing the stock valve springs. I replaced valve springs at 45K and picked up 4mph trap speed, 100 to 104 at near stock boost levels.

What times are you looking for? Your objectives will dictate where you should spend your money.

I was launching at about 1,500 RPM and my 60' times were 2.015 & 2.022. I'm not really interested in it going much faster, I just want to make sure it is reliable and that I'm not going to break something by getting too lean when I jump on it. I enjoy the TTA because I have always wanted one from the time I saw my first one in the showroom. I have very fond memories of my new 85 TA and my 87 GTA. Plus I can cruise with the family in the TTA and not be limited to me and one other like in the Corvette.

Got my first TTA in '94, not a MI car though I bought it here. Just thought it would be a good idea to replace the fuel filter if you have not already. I think its safe to go with a walbro pump now, I think the bad ones are off the market.
