Gas octane choices

I live in Michigan. Last summer I was looking for some high octane fuel. One place I had went to had 104 leaded gas. Another place I went to had 104 octane and the pump said leaded. Abdul in the store swore it was un-leaded. What are some of the negative ramifications from using leaded gas in our engines? I am also running a thraher 92 chip. My boost is up near 19 PSI. I was having an occasional detenation on acceleration. Will a higher octane gas help this problem?

Higher octane will definately help. Abdul's ignorance may cost you an O2 sensor. They will go bad pretty quickly if you run leaded. The catalytic convertor can go bad,too. I think it can tolerate leaded fuel more than the O2 sensor, but you shouldn't run much lead unless you are prepared to replace these parts.

the leaded feuls you will find at the pump are likely low lead fuels but still contain some lead so they have to be marked leaded. if you run them you truly shouldnt be running a cat, it is simple enough to take off and the power gains are pretty noticeable too, just keep it around if you need to go through emmisions.
just dont run more that a tankfull and your o2 sensor should be safe if you run unleaded again for a few tanks. (best if you run a mix for the track)
