Gauge lights

I installed a scanmaster on TTA #1397 then when i moved the column back down the gauge lights went out ? I let the column up an down an the lights would flicker but wouldnt stay on. Ive never had a problem before i moved the column. Anyone know what wire might be loose ?

Just to clarify, you are talking about the dash lights going out when you move the tilt steering column? I'm wondering if it could be a short relating to the steering wheel radio controls. Do the lights on them go out as well?
 
I didn't know the lights go on the steering wheel controls. My car came in Monday and I've had about 30 minutes with it. Everything seems to work perfectly except the radio controls ...

anyone have any idea why the radio would work perfectly but NONE of the radio controls work?

yes lights go out on gauges an all lights that supose to be on in the car when lights are on.
 
Let me understand... you lowered the whole column, as in unbolted it to allow it to come down a little? If so, the I'd look at that 12-15 pin connector that is hooked onto the column (there is technical name to it). I think the power to the general illumination is in that connector. It may have gotten pulled apart if the column was lowered.

Theres a two pin connector in back of the head unit, I believe these control steering wheel functions for radio, if thats not plugged in that may be why
 
Thanks Rod ... I'll check it out when I get back next week (or course I'll have to open up my manual to find out where the 'head unit' is!) :)

I just lowered it as moved it i didnt unbolt it ... im thinking a wire is loose with a short ???
 
A short should mean a blown fuse too, but you're on the right track.

Does the dash light dimmer have an affect on this problem? or are they just "out" all together.
 
Head unit is your radio, you can pull off the trim piece around it and theres 3 7mm screws i believe, remove those and just pull it out
