GTA NOTCHBACK

Nice one; yep same rear seats ... wonder who specified those to be use in the TTA ... Tom Goad maybe?
 
Just remember it's GM...when they did notchbacks then stopped production mid way...where do you think all those seats went? 1989 turbo ta's 1550 produced. Wouldn't surprise me to find a crap load of DD9 paddle mirrors somewhere....I have a perfect.set of those and a notchback hatch im probably going to sell.
 
I never really liked the notchback. Makes the car look too long in the back IMO. Nice piece of history though.

Question related to the rear glass: Do all TTA's have the rear defrosters (other than the three pace cars)?
 
How do those defrosters do with window tint? I've seen a lot of tint jobs go bad on rear windows with the defrosters, but I know that window tint has improved over the years.

Mine got tint on it (film) and it's been on there for 10+ years and no issues .. more than when you want to take it off it will be a pain in the but ...

Oh and I'm not 100% sure all 3 pace cars had the none defroster glass .. I know the one in the Indy museum with the ABC camera gear in it for obvious reasons had it swapped for a none defroster one but not sure about the other 2 (GM museum and Fittipaldi's one) as its really hard to tell from just looking at the pictures I have of them.

The issues are because people turned on the defrost before the tint had thoroughly dried most likely. I had a tinted rear window in a '79 Z28 with much sharper radius curves than ours back in '86 and never had an issue with it, defroster worked like a champ.

Just the one (now @ the Indy museum but rarely on display) ...

The other two were really backup pace cars but where used as well as you seen but no ABC camera equipment as only the one where used for that (too much money and resource to run more than one I guess).
 
I like the wooden camera equipment Scott Kelly had to make so ABC could get the real stuff back. It tricked me when I first saw it. lol
 
how much less does it weigh than regular ones ? jan check out crystalline tint 3m.

all I use now keeps all the radiant heat an uv rays out ... 70% on my daughters Camaro and my work truck droped inside temp over 30 degrees
