Headliner Install

I ordered the headliner kit from Hawks Third Gen. Sunday and got it 3 days later. Will probably wait till the weekend to install when I got more time.

Anyway I already removed the old headliner and layed it aside so I could compare it with the new one when it came in.

I was surprised it was already covered and ready to be installed, only thing I will take a xacto knife and cut and peel back and glue for the cut outs.

It comes with instructions, even how to take your old headliner out.

The sunvisors look really good also, will have to use the old mounting rod.

It all appears sturdy and not flimsy at all.

Depending how it looks when I install it, I might add clips of some sort at the front for added support, if needed.

I layed it on top of the old headliner and the holes lined up. :beach:

The headliner and kit, came in a huge box. I guess it was to keep from bending the headliner too much. Ah yes Robert, I believe it is spot on!!!
 
I need mine done too. I already have the new visors from Classic Industries and re did the sail panels myself. I have the beechwood cloth also from them. Its been in my closet for a year and a half. :disgust:

Are you satisfied with the color match? Let us know how it goes, I'll be taking notes. The kit you got from Hawks looks like good quality.

My bad Mike, i should have looked at the pics, i thought you paid that for just the headliner, with everything you got looks like a good deal :thumbup:

I would not pay $299 for the headliner alone, it comes with the sunvisors and sail panel. I could have done without the sail panels, may use them or may not.

Like I said it was a huge box and that is why the shipping was a little high, but they had it in stock and got it in a short time. Some of the vendors day it would take weeks to get the headliner.

I called Hawks on monday after placing the order online on Sunday and they said it was ready to be shipped out.:poke:

Sorry to hijack the thread with this BUT $179 to save a high dollar turbo over and over? i don't see that as ridiculous IF it works, apparently Cottons didn't know it would not work ON a TTA until they called Precision Turbo, but no worrys i shipped it back and got a refund; i guess we cant all be born knowing everthing right? DontKnow:
 
That is exactly what I got to do after the paint job, and not a bad price for evrything. Please let us know the fit and color match, Mike.
 
You fellas have missed my point, but that's okay, the PTE turbo saver is worth every penny if it does what you need it to do, and the headliner is worth every penny if it solves his problem too...

I just don't understand why some things are ridiculed for the price and other things are not...if someone is willing to buy it, then isn't it worth it?

No mirror on the new ones. The factory mirror on the pass. side one will pull off the visor, it is attached by 2 push in like dowl pins on the mirror itself, with 2 holes in the visor for the pins.

I can live without a mirror, but the visors really look good.
 
I bought one from Bruce years ago at the TA nats and installed it on the show field in about 30 mins!!:cheers:
 
Heres some pics of headliner installed along with sunvisors. Everything went well, easy install. Pleased with the outcome. And yes the color was good, especially compared to the old faded headliner in the car:

Awesome. Thanks for the pics and tips.On my to do list for both.

The floppy ears and the loose fabric flapping in the wind with the t-tops out drive me crazy.

Anyone installed the original make-up mirror on the passanger side ? If so how?

I installed the vanity mirror on the new visor. My old one was starting to get cloudy and I did not want to use it. I ordered the GM replacement mirror from Classic Industries. It is a little bigger if I remember. I cut off the push pin mounting pins from the new unit. I glued the new one to the visor using the 3M Super 77 adhesive following the directions.....using two applications waiting to dry blah blah blah.

It turned out great and has not moved at all. Triple digit speeds around a Nascar track with the tops out and the visors down.
