How firm do the TTA transmissions shift?

My car shifts smooth like a big car would not firm like I'd think it would. It's got 94k on it, fluid is red, doesn't slip, has a cooler and what feels like a stock converter. It appears to be the original unit by the data plate on the side.

I've read the TTA's shifted real firm but have no confirmation of it. I know the GN's were hit or miss as to whether you'd get a firm shifting or a not so firm shifting one and since these were essentially the same with a few small changes is it safe to assume some TTA's were firm and some weren't? Maybe I just have a not-so-firm one? I'd think in such a small run of cars the quality control would be good but I'm probably giving 1980's GM too much credit. :eam:
I'm thinking of putting in a shift kit to liven it up a little though I do have an Art Carr servo on the shelf I could install too.

Thanks Roadkill but I already reset the detent cable. It helped but it's still nowhere near as firm as I'd imagine these things should be. I'm just wondering if they're all firm or if there's a wide deviation between them.
 
Experienced several new GNs and my TTA from new. The GNs definately shifted more firm. GM made the TTA shift smoother supposedly for a more upper class buyer who wanted more plushy ride.
 
Mine with 39,000 original stock miles shifts pretty darn hard. Especially when cold. It is about the same as my new 85 Trans Am after I had it rebuilt with a "super trans pack" in the "strip" mode. I've never been in anything that shifted this firm stock. They guy who works on it says it is about the same as the stock GN's he has worked on. I thought somebody must have put a shift kit in it.
 
Remember you can't use the TV cable to adjust the "firmness" of the shifts, it's either adjusted correct or it's miss-adjusted and you risk toasting the transmission ....

A good transmission should have firm shift points, mine shifts pretty hard but got beefed up stuff in there.
