How important are the original parts?

I am currently reviving #1345 for the original owner and was wondering if I needed to save everything that needs changed or what I could safely pitch? I know tomorrow I have to swap out the ECM and the core is cheap enough but is it really important to keep?

The car is completely stock and only has 6900 miles.
 
Depend's, in your case i would keep everything and let the owner do as he want's with the old parts, cover you ass that way as some people are pickey with TTA's.
 
I would definitely keep them, many times the parts used from the factory are different (look and or part numbers) from what you would get later as a spare / replacement part over the counter.

So I say keep and let the owner have it all back .. if he's not interested to keep it I'm sure someone on here might be interested to hang on to it or help put something back to original.

The ECM casing can be used and just replace the PCB board inside for instance.

Other things for factory correct look is any of the under hood relays ... Delco replacements got incorrect looking info printed on them, date code and they say Made in Taiwan or China ... trick here is to keep the original relays when they go bad and pop them apart and just swap over the internals and that way you keep the original look.
 
I would keep the parts. I have 8,400 miles on mine and all stock. I changed the hood and hatch lifts and kept the original parts. I have to replace the original tires and will keep them as well.
 
The original tires will be left on the wheels and stored. This is not the typical mechanic/customer relationship. I am doing this work for a friend while on break from my automotive studies in college. I am not an inexperienced student by any means just going back to school after a long hiatus to get the paperwork that will help me get a job doing what I love. I have this car a 10th Anniversary Trans Am, 96 Impala SS and two 928's to revive for him as well. The others are non stock or not rare/low mile enough to be this concerned with originality as much. This car will be driven the owner and myself after it is completed but sparingly.
