If they don't run an article on the TTA, it is a crime. The TTA is the pinnacle of HPP for Pontiac, name another stock Pontiac that can out perform the TTA. Not even the 2009 G8 GXP with the LS3 engine could out perform the 1989 TTA. Am I missing something here? Is there a reason why no love from the magazine? Am I reading too much into it???

It's Buick Powered, purist have a problem with that. I however seem to have always been attracted to hybrids.

Yes, that thought was in the back of my mind. I've heard the arguement before "Its not a REAL Pontiac" blah blah blah. I was hoping since they took the time to come out to the reunion, maybe things would be different.

I guess if they use that reasoning, anything after 1981 isn't really a Pontiac. It is a shame if they don't even give us a little mention in there.

Allot of those good ol' boys had "size issues" with it being a V6 instead of a V8.
Back in the early 90's, the local V8 guys just couldn't grasp that "that lil 'ol V6 is in a top-o-the-line Trans Am?" ...,"well, BullShit, you wanna run-em city boy?"
And then after several dozen mathematically challenged good 'ol boys found themselves several car lengths behind a stock v6 powered T/A, they started to introduce themselves to how math works.
It was fun educating them. I remember blowing this dude away in a completely gutted (absolutely no interior) 400 ci nova with open headers and full blown race slicks. Back in the pits it was like watching zombies come out of the wood work, they kinda creep around the TTA and look with mezmorized eyes at all those hoses and sensors, "It's some kinda future machine enus" insert banjo music here...
I think it's got a flux capacitor!

This got me thinking, so third and 4th gens have GM engines correct? Not Pontiac. So Buick is a division of GM. HPP features a lot of 4th gen birds. So much for the "purist" philosphy.
As for the good ole boy size mentality, it feels good to be the underdog. Some of those guys probably lust at night wishing to own a TTA.:drool:
Jim can fill us in however he worked on the article together with Scott but not sure when they finished it and sent it to the magazine or if they are still working on it, remember hpp did not attend the event.

Thanks for the correction Jan. Just went back and re -read all the posts from the reunion info and it said HPP wanted to do an article but it was very costly to send up a photographer from Tampa. If the article is forwarded to them-there is still hope we will get in the magazine!

That was a friend of Jim that is a pro-photagrapher just to make sure we got good photos we could send to the magazines etc. as far as I know he was not contracted by any magazine at the time to shoot for anyone in particular.
Yep that's the same guy, I think he's an independent photographer and that is his site to make some money (recover some of his cost for being there I presume).

WELL, that is interesting. i guess because of the cost they only cover events close to tampa ? more likey they didnt think there would be a big turnout, like JIM said not much chance you will see 50 + tta's in one place again :drool:
Most magazines, and I work with a lot of them, don't have the budget these days to cover everything (actually they don't have the budget to cover much at all these days) so they use freelancers they hardly pay anything to write for them so normally they are pretty keen on publishing anythign they can get for free as long as the quality of the article and pictures are good they will run with it.

I'm a photographer, and I know a lot of magazines have been trying to get amateurs to submit photos for free these days. "Send us your photos! You'll get PHOTO CREDIT (your name in tiny type on the page where your photo appears)". Sure thing dudes... as soon as PHOTO CREDIT pays my mortgage I'll take you up on that.
Judging from the activity on this forum though, you'd hardly know there were more than a dozen or so TTAs still in existence.

I'm not sure what Wall Street has to do with magazine's inability to stay competitive and relevant in a market that's quickly changing to electronic media. They're all finding the transition difficult, and it's the smaller magazines that are having more trouble.

I would say that both are reasons why the magazines are doing bad. A magazine subscription might be considered a luxury in a tanking economy.

Ok, agreed that magazines are a luxury, but I believe Wall Street's state (poor stock prices) is a symptom of the economy and not the cause of it.

No they covered the Pontiac Nationals and the Trans Am Nationals which are both in Ohio and the Firebird Lawn Show in upstate NY so I don't think it has to do with distance or that the TTA is Buick powered but wonder if the fact it was held at a Buick event had anything to do with it? Idk but I look forward to any coverage on the event I wasn't able to attend.
