I Need Help With Front Seats

I'm currently in the process of having some leather seat covers made from Katzkin. The company that's placing the order for me is called SAR interiors. I chose this company because they have the least markup. My total bill for the front and rear seats came to $800 which includes free shipping.

Now here's the problem: SAR asked me to send them pictures of the seats so they could send them to Katzkin so there won't be any problems with my order. I currently don't have my car... it's in another state being restored, The pictures I sent them were of some I got off of the web.

Here's the email I just got from SAR:

Hi Carlos, I need more pictures of two areas. 1. Front seat Bottom Cushion – I need to see more detail of this part especially the panel that would be under your knee when sitting in the seat. This bolster panel on some models is a separate piece and I need to see angles, front and sides. 2. Front headrest – I need to see different angles, front back sides. Thank you for your assistance and patience. Wayne p.s rear seats are good.

Quite frankly, I don't quite understand why Katzkin needs all of these detailed photos, because I know they've made these seat covers before and should already have a pattern on file. Anyhoooo... can someone please help me out by taking detailed photos of the bottom seat cushion, the front, back and sides of the headrest and then post the photos here please? I'd truly appreciate the help.

But Carlos, to his point, katzkin made these covers for us a couple years ago as part of a group purchase through "hawk's 3rd gen parts".

So, yes they have done them....for another supplier. If they can find thier way clear to ask Katzskin about hawk's order maybe they can resolve it that way.

If not, maybe the mark up Hawk's makes is worth your trouble.

They should only need the make and model, not pictures. Doing better Rich, first time in 4 week's i have'nt been on my back all day...
 
IIRC, when I received my seat covers (thru Hawks) the box they came in had Katzkin all over it. Direct shipped from Katzkin thru Hawks to me. The invoice was in plastic on the outside. So yeah they definately know the pattern for our cars. I just checked, the box is still down the basement-definatley says Katzkin.

Well, I got my new leather hides in and they look great! I'll start shopping around next week for a quality upholstery shop to do the leather swap for me. I'm gonna have whichever upholstery shop I go with change the carpet on the back of the rear covers because the color is WAAAAAAAY off.

I am just finishing the installation of my leather seats that I bought way back during the GP. I just need to warn you that the color of the seat plastics is somewhat darker and will not have a seamless color "look" like the OEM covers. Most people just deal with it, but I decided to spray/dye all my plastics to match the new leather.

It's extremely time consuming but they now match damn near perfect with the seat leather.


BTW....I had the trim shop transfer my seat back carpet to the new covers, rather than use the aftermarket carpet that came on the rear seats...It looks way better as it is a different shade too....cost just a few more bucks to have done.

I picked up my seats from the upholstery shop the other day and I think they came out ok. I suspect they'll get a little tighter with time and some heat. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the guys that did the group purchase a few years ago went with the 'Doeskin' color, right? I always thought that color was too light when I saw some of the pictures, so I went with the 'Camel' color which is a little darker and looks better IMO.
