IC question

From which vendor? I believe Jim Dunn makes a stretched intercooler that was specific for TTA application and fitment. Do a search for stretch intercoolers on this site. I think some have mentioned problems with clearance issues being that the extended shroud is likely to be very low.

You can accomplish much of the same effect with an efficient turbo and alky with less headaches, but I guess if you want the ultimate mods you can go the bigger intercooler approach

While a better turbo and alky definitely improve things, they aren't exactly an alternative for a better intercooler- just two other good mods. Put them all together :)
 
I have to say the Jim Dunn ic is top shelf.
It is custom for tta and works better than ever? I keep a new one in the garage just incase, as they are tough to get. I know a few other members here run the Jim Dunn ic I'm sure they will agree. The shroud is very low so if your roads are bumpy beware. But can't beat it over all!
 
right now i just have the big neck ic.. planning on going precision 5858, 3200 stall I do have ally and all supporting mods. would a bigger sl ic really make a difference my goals are to break 12. low 11s

I have the Jim Dunn IC on #368....it's awesome! I agree with being low....scraped it more than once. Very nice upgrade.
 
I just spoke to Jim Dunn....he can still make the TTA speciifc IC's (and DP's) he sold before. They have to be prepaid before he'll make them. Lots of good references and Jim Chadue can vouch as well...no worries that you won't get it. Let me know if anyone wants one and I can put you in touch.

No...my TTA with a stock neck original IC has gone a best recorded 11.18 and am quite sure it had a 11.00-10.90 pass in it. Best top speed was 124 on 28" tires. Mods in sig...stock heads and cam too. For your goals you would be better spending your money elsewhere...while they are very nice they aren't cheap and you are a long way from maxing out the Dut neck stock IC. My new build will include a Dut neck stock IC for low 10's and eventually hi 9's. Get a decent turbo and matched converter, upgrade the rear suspension and some drag radials and you are there.

What downpipe do you have? If it's stock, replacing that will make a difference....with a 5858 turbo (check what RPM precision says the converter should flash and match the converter) , bigger injectors, a chip, alky, larger IC and downpipe.....11's should be very reasonable to attain.

You realize this is a downward spiral....upgraded mods require more fuel which will have you looking at the fuel pump, hot wire kit, stronger rear, etc Break out the checkbook and get ready for some fun....
