So I got some insurance that was supposed to be "collector" insurance.
Sent in photos and descriptions. My dad paid for it under his name. He actually talked to the people for me. They needed photos and comps to send in..
The agent talked to me about the photos and told me all was good.
To make a long boring story short, they never cashed the check, the person that took my info never registered the order. I was driving around the last 6 months with absolutely no insurance. Not even covering the car if it was damaged in the garage during a storm. I just went for a blast off yesterday in thick traffic...WITH NO insurance. Just make sure you have all your bases coverd. Holy crap, you never know who your dealing with.
 
I dont have any complaints about my collector insurance, but with my "regular" car/home owners/life policy. We had purchased a car on a Saturday as a driver and I called the 800 number. I usually like dealing with my agent locally, but the office was closed. Gave them the VIN and what coverage I wanted,etc. Everything was supposed to be taken care of. About 7 weeks later I decided to go on line and check some things with our policies. Noticed the "new" car was not on there. Called and bitched them out, as my son was driving this car fior 7 weeks not covered. They then had the nerve to bill me for the past 7 weeks and said "oh he would have been covered" if there was a problem. Insurance (and taxes) are the biggest ripoff!!
 
Don't get me started on this subject! What's the difference between insurance from the mob and insurance from an insurance company? One will protect you and the other will rip you off. Guess which one is which! There's a reason that every year when Forbe's publishes their top 500 companies there's typically about 10 or so of the top 25 occupied by insurance companies. Calling it a racket is an insult to legitimate, hard working criminals.

Anyways, I've had more than one bad experience with insurance companies (couldn't you tell?). One time when I moved I had all my mail forwarded, as I usually did. For some reason my insurance bill didn't get to the new address. The funniest part was I received a letter with my name and address HAND WRITTEN on it to let me know I was no longer covered. And the big kicker...there was a refund check in the letter! So I was driving around for a month or more with no insurance. When I called them they said I should've contacted my agent with the change of address. I told them all my other mail got forwarded, why not there's? And how exactly did they find me to SEND ME MONEY but not BILL ME?!?! Then they had the nerve to charge me a premium for being uninsured for the month.

Bad business and poor customer service seems to be par for the course nowadays. Sad but true.

Nope, no card. Which I should of took notice. Rather I took her word over the phone that everything was confirmed. The next place I use I will make sure to secure a printed copy of proof.
 
I got all my 3 vehicles insured at the same place, so I have one bill and I pay it online and can even print out proof of insurance card online, it makes it simple that way.

By the way a friend of mine got stopped in rural GA and got a ticket for no insurance. He thought his family had paid the insurance but they forgot. It was a hefty fine. He told me it was a small town and the cop even took him out to lunch!:eam:
