Intercooler size?

We are refurbishing the turbo area and many years ago purchased a Car Motorsports reproduction intercooler duct. Just now got around to installing it and it is too small side to side by about a 1/4 inch. Car Motorsports says the size matches what they have in stock so I have to question whether we have a stock intercooler or not. We have festival car #37, very early in the production cycle, Nov 23, 1988 build date. The data tag on the intercooler shows Cust P/N of 20TA-10050 and the width is 12 9/16". The width of the duct is 12 7/16" exterior and because of the thickness of the material would need to be 12 11/16" to fit. Has anyone else had this problem? and/or does the intercooler data plate on your car match ours? Thanks in advance for any and all replys.

Sounds like you have the stock IC, i just installed one from C.M a few weeks ago and it fit but they can be a pain, have you tried the fit with the IC off ? I do know that they used the same tool and die to make all of them at the same time yrs ago.

No, that is the next step if we had the correct intercooler. But it's toooooo cold in the garage right now. Thanks for the feedback.
