Intermediate exhaust pipe

Got to working on doing this today. (finally) Old one was welded into the muffler (dynomax), so cut it off with the cut off saw. Just a tip for anyone doing this. We had the car on pretty tall jack stands. It is impossible to feed the new pipe thru unless you have the car on a lift. Soooo, I am going to have to take it to a local place I had my base firebird exhaust done. They do custom work and are good people. We put a cheater pipe on it to tone down the noise, so I can get it there. I am going to call them on Tuesday. Another observation from this is my cat has been gutted. Kinda disappointed to find this out.

I have picked out a lift and am going to get it installed sometime next month, but I really want my car ready to drive like right now. I'll keep everyone updated on the outcome.

Kymmee - you can slip it in if you disconnect the shocks and let the rear drop down a bit more. I just did the fuel pump on the Recaro today and I was able to slip the old mid pipe and mufflers out in 1 piece and slip in the new Dynomax mid pipe with the car on jack stands and the rear dropped down. Not sure what you are replacing it with, but Dynomax has a 50 dollar rebate on cat backs until the end of June. It cost me 208 bucks minus the rebate. I was happy with the quality.

I have 2 Dynomax mufflers on the Syclone and they sound great! I would use Dynomax on the TTA for sure!

Thanks Vincent. Took your advice and dropped it a bit, and with it on the lift, we got it done. It was kind of difficult. We had to remove the tailpipe on the passsenger side to get the intermediate to match up with the muffler and then re-attach the tailpipe on that side.

Success!!

Nice! What brand I pipe did you use?

Walker P/N 46669. Got it from Summit Racing several yrs ago. Has been sitting in the basement.:( The original was pretty bad, lots of pin holes, esp where it bends up over the axle. Re-used the Dynomax muffler and tailpipes, they were good.
