Is it just me or is this badass?

I'm with Steve (TTA850) on this one. There's always a few sour apples in every group that spoil the bunch.

That being said, the "average" Corvette owner is usually in their 40s-60s, not trying to be mean, that's just the demographic. Most owners are more interested in either daily driving the cars or loading them up with accessories. The average Vette owner certainly doesn't push their car to its fullest potential, but then again most people who own ANY car don't. Those who are not average buy them to race, and not just the drag strip. They are enthusiastic, open minded, and like to talk to others with the same interests.

I did my fair share of car shows when I first had my TTA. And yes, it used to burn me up when a Vette (or any other car) would win without even popping the hood. Back then the C5 wasn't even out yet so I knew most any C4 short of a ZR-1 would be toast on the street. As the C5 came out I started to hate them a little less. Then I stopped going to car shows and started racing. Then I got bored with drag strips and headed to some road courses. Then my friends started buying Vettes and they earned my respect. I've been in stock C5s, TT C5s, and a C6 Z06. All very impressive. The new ZR1 will be nothing short of spectacular. I just don't care for the hood, looks like something off a Hot Wheels car.

As for Philly, since he's such a hater, I'll just have to stop selling him TTA memorabilia.

Philly reminds me of an old joke, fill in your most hated car type for BMW.
"What's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW? With the porcupine the pricks are on the outside!"

But seriously, don't be a hater or stereotype an owner based on their car. I've met many people with many different types of cars and it all boils down to the loose nut behind the wheel.

I'll now step down from my soapbox.

Your right Lefty. Hey, an 1989 Honda Accord has a better book value than your T/A too! What number of 300,000 is your T/A? Mine is #977.

That is the most ignorant comment I have ever heard. Quote it...you won't see me say that very often.

SO SO TRUE!!!!!!!

Well,
All I gotta say is, don't get mad at someone who has had nothing but negative results with Corvette people vs. TTA people.
I have had nothing but crap given to me from Corvette people.
They do tend to feel they are above everyone.
I had one guy even get out of his car to try and fight me, because I wouldn't race a fourth time (I had already beat him three times on the street-he was in a black ZR-1 too).
I stopped by a Corvette show once, by the beach (remember now, I grew up in SoCal), and found a parking space right in front of the show.
I backed into the empty spot, and as I was getting out, all of a sudden, there was a croud of Corvette owners telling me to move my pile of sh*t.
I just stood by my door, in the street, and told them my car could kick most of their butts.
They said I was full of sh*t, no Trans Am could beat any Vette.
I reminded them that during the mid to late 70s, Trans Am was king.
Didn't faze them at all.
By now, there must have been about 30 owners on the sidewalk ready to beat me to a pulp, then, this guy walks through the crowd, in a business suit, and say's "Let him be, in a race, his car would kick all your ass!"
I looked up at the dealership showroom, and saw a lime green Corvette, with a half windshield and no top, with big vents on the side.
I said, well, there is one Vette here that could take me.
He turned around, and looked at me, and smiled.
He then asked if he could look under my hood.
I said sure, and opened the hood.
He bent right into my engine bay, and said "Nice".
By this time, alot of the Corvette owners were looking in too, and mumbling about a six could not take a big 350.
The guy in the suit had to tell them that it could.
He then invited me into the show, and as we were walking up, I said "I take it that you are the Callaway rep."
He smiled and said yep.
I walked with him right up to his car.
I asked if he could pop the hood, and he did, and we spent about 30 minutes talking about his car.
So, in my case, only one owner was nice.
So, for me, the odds of Corvette owners are nice, is super low.
1 vs. 100 so far.
I have had 2 Viper owners mad at me, while others won't even come look at my car.
I have talked to a few Viper owners at shows, and they have pretty much been nice, and willing to take me for a ride, or let me sit in their car.
So, 2 jerks vs. about 30 good guys.
Porsche owners.
Only one guy was nice, after I beat him street racing, while others just answer questions on their cars.
So far, no one has been rude or mean.
So, 0 rude/mean vs. about 15 nice.
BMW owners/employees.
Their car is so much better than anything in the world.
And they will cut down your car, well, pretty much any other car than a BMW.
Can't ever talk them into anything different.
So, all are rude/mean vs. 0 nice.
Mustangs.
about 50/50 so far.
GNs.
Out in Los Angeles, all owners were nice, and quite a few wanted to trade cars, driving around the block.
Now, here in Kingman, AZ, only three I've seen so far, and all are jerks.
So, 15 nice vs 3 jerks.
Rice.
That seems to be the only ones who are nice (at shows-street racing, they are the best, till they lose-which they do quite often)
They will always show up and look at my car, and ask questions.
Probably about 80 nice vs. 20 jerks.
Then, there are other 20th TTA owners.
They are all nice, till they sell thir car, and want to buy a Vette.
When you don't buy they TTA stuff, they get mad and cut you down.
Talk crap all the time.
Named Ron too. ;)
Ha! Just kidding!
Ron is a cool guy, and easy to joke around with.
He has visited me out in Los Angeles, and I've known him for quite a few years, even seeing him at a Trans Am Nationals show.
So, right now, he is a good guy.
Now, when he gets that Vette, we'll see............... :)
Really though, on TTA guys, they have all been great, unless you beat them at a drag race, then they are mad till they beat you. :) ;)
Now, this is what I have seen in person, and the only way to change that, is to meet nice people.
Carwise, I will go to any car show, and I have even gone to a Mexican Low Rider show, and Lisa and me were the only white people.
They were rude to me, nice to Lisa (gee, i wonder why? ;) ), then after talking to us, they took us around the show.
At the end of the day, they were all nice and friendly.
I am happy with my cars, and don't force it/them on anyone.
Everyone has a right to have their own likes/dislikes.
I don't think anyone should be slamming anyone for their views here.
They are based on what has happened to them.
You can't really change that aspect.

My take,

:beach:

Good stories George. Maybe some of the owners are assholes but all of them are not. Sure a lot of them are preppy little bitches who drive them as a status symbol but the true Corvette enthusiast, as I have found, are pretty nice people in general.

All I gotta say is, don't get mad at someone who has had nothing but negative results with Corvette people vs. TTA people.

I am not getting mad but some of the comments are uncalled for. Calling all of them pricks is wrong. Everyone is entitled to there opinion though. Glad to see some people interact in this thread!

OK, I take back what I said about Philly. I'll continue to sell him TTA trinkets. Just know that those funds will be going towards a Vette.

As for George, I'm sure to find something you're gonna want as I continue to dig through my stuff. Don't worry, you'll make a contribution to my fund eventually. :WOOT:

I've had the pleasure of meeting many TTA owners over the years, whether at shows or just when I'm traveling. It's nice to be able to converse and have dinner with someone when you're away from home. For the most part, all were pleasant experiences. For those other few...DontKnow: ...as I said before, always a few bad apples somewhere.

Thanks for the kind words Jason. I don't take offense to his juvenile comments. I just consider the source.

Cool story George.
I've found that there are pricks in every group most of the time, all groups are about 67% cocky and uppity about whatever it is that they are specifically into. I like to street race, so that's where I've experienced most comments, yelling between cars.."that was a good run, blah blah" Most give respect when they get beat and I do to. Bowling Green KY. was cool this past Fall. Vette guy in a 2003 vette with some internal mods, cam, heads, running 11.08 blew my doors off, but when we ogt back in line he was cool and new about the TTA. Another ricer was in an mitsu EVO, we both ran 12.20s, I got there just a bit ahead and beat him once, he beat me once also (All Wheel drive damn it! ). He was totally cool and showed me the car and what he had done to it. I smoke a supercharged cobalt so bad it was unreal, but I totally dug the dudes ride and his interest in everything going on. The bad ass of the day was a 10.30 GN that beat me so bad I saw his E.T. and MPH before I got to the end. We hung out the whole night cuttin jokes about the chick with huge one's! Bottom line, some folks are cool, or maybe car shows are for suckers and the dragstrip on any old day of the year attracts cooler people. Oh yeah.. Mom had a vette for 20 years. She's cool.:cheekiss:

Those are some good races!!!! I like it when someone will line there car up and race instead of bench racing. You have them on every forum. I am running 11.5 right now and have had my far share of wins and losses. I loss to an EVO that ran 10.8 last spring. He was a pretty cool guy. I am going with a heads and cam and gears this spring. Hope to see that ten second slip this spring!!! Happy Holiday's!!!!

Damn your in Gainesville??? If all goes well I will be down there for school in the fall of 2009.

Going to check out the campus next June.

Thats what I take it as too. like posted above my brother owns a 96 Callaway Grand sport and my dad owns a plain jain 77 vette. Most owners are azzholes. Im not hating on the car whats so ever. Hell I even wanted to buy a New vette in 99 when I turned 18. Didnt have the funds,So I ordered a 99 SS vert camaro with a 6 speed and im glad I did. Ended up getting # 405 of under 5k 99 SS's made. No need to make this a hate thread. I gave my props to the new ZR1 just posted I didnt like the attitude of most of the owners.

Jason,

If you like sports and like to party you will love UF. A friend of mine went to school there and I used to visit him. Always had a great time and usually needed a vacation to recover after the trip. :drunk:

One word of caution, you might want to plan on spending more than 4 years there as there are many distractions. Also, very hot and humid but you probably already knew that.

Haha I like D) All the above

Yeah I have already forewarned my parents I plan on being on the 5 year plan. :WOOT: the more years the smarter right?  haha

It is pricey out of state but I would be able to get instate second year for sure.

Hey Jason,
As a UF alum myself, congratulations! It's really a great school and a great place to live. Wait till you go to a game. The TV cannot do justice to the experience of being at one of those home games.

And depending on your major, you should definitely plan on 5 years. I did engineering but spent my first two years having a good time. We all have our stories... I did not do any serious damage to academics though and I finished engineering school in 4.5 years. I'm sure it would take longer now.

Go Gators!!
