Do most of us invest? I would really be buying the Citigroup and Washington Mutual banks (C) and (WM). I would look for long term results however. Stocks could drop a little lower on housing concerns. WM has a HUGE dividend too!

Citi is around 38.50 per share after houf trading and MW is near near low 24's.

Ive got lots of money tied up in various shares related to my working industry. Its not for everybody and you have to be prepared for the possibility to loose your investments. All of mine are long term.

An interesting question, and an interesting selection of companies.

I believe one is looking to buy, and one is looking to BE bought.

Both worth watching.

I wish I knew more about it....I don't have any bucks to invest anyway.
It's all tied up in this silly car!:jaw:

Citigroup's took a 10% hit on Weds. That was just a nick in that voiatile sector. They will be fine. Also, WM has a huge dividend :).

Bill Nygren of the Oakmark funds is a very good value player within large caps. He has owned this company for years. I know his last three years have been very mild. However, look at this track record. :)

Merrill Lynch is already part of my small portfolio. While I think C and WM are buying opportunities now, I feel I have enough exposure in that sector already. I don't think WM's 9% dividend will stay there very long for several reasons. Investing in the market right now is not for the faint-hearted, but some very good companies have been beaten down lately. There are some bargains out there now, I am sure. Just my opinion...definitely not advice.
