Just my thoughts on investments ....

What is the interest rate at a bank? nothing... Inflation is 3.5 percent , so your losing in the average saving accounts. You mine as well acquire one of these Super Cars at a deal price and sit on them. Also, I believe you can mod these TTA to a certain extent without really harming the true value. Sure, you are spending money for upkeep and insurance. But, you will also have the presents of a Modern Muscle Classic.

Just my .02 cents , the some good investments out there right now that I choose are Bill Nygren's Oakmark Select Fund (OAKLX) for a Roth IRA/Conventional and 6-9 month CD's. These CD's are nice because your money isn't wrapped up for long period of time. I have been investing in the Oakmark Select for 9 years and I love it.

Everyone have a Happy Independence Day.

I see my cars as more than just an investment.... I enjoy working on them, cleaning, maintaining, driving, showing and even occasionally racing them. I have my cars for the enjoyment factor 1st & then an investment 2nd. Its hard to put a dollar value on the enjoyment I get from each & every one of them.....

Lucky, I have done very well in investments. I used to buy and sell houses and make a good chunk of money. I would buy a HUD house for dirt cheap and dump it and make between 10k and 30k and only 3-6 months of work. I would contract everything out except the painting part. I really helped put my daughter and son through college. EXPENSIVE!!!! Like alot of the guys said, they don't buy cars for investments. A car is one of the worst investments one can make. I know there are execptions like anything in life. But I buy super cars for other reasons. For example the gentlemen who just sold his TTA for 30k. Just like Turbo joe said upkeep is probably 300 dollars a year plus another 500 for insurance and who knows for mods? So if you do the math 800x18 years is almost 15,000 dollars. Subtract that from what ever the TTA was bought for new (25K?) You could have done better in a no interest bank account. That's a loss financial but for me I would have had  alot of memories and fun which is well worth it.
Lastly, being a car enthusist just like all of you, I find it hard to believe that you can mod a collectible car with Alky kits and NOS and truly believe they will increase in value like a stock car. I go to car shows and autions almost every tuesady night, mostly for the food:bounce: and see alot of offers and stock unmolested cars sell for a much higher price. It's a fact.

Everyone's opinion will change when these TTA's hit the 20 year mark. I think these Cars are going to take off. I believe as long as your TTA is in great shape, slightly modded ones will still hold there true value.

VERY few cars have the sleek style the TTA has. Actually, I think we have the best looking Cars to date, still. I am not cocky just confident.

To me, I would buy a TTA with my combo of mods over a completely stock one for the same price. The TT chip just plainly make the Car run 100% better. The Racetronix Pump w/ the hotwire ensures reliable fuel deliverly. Hooker exhaust w/ a test pipe and intake w/K&N simply make the Car breath better. Adj. Fuel Regulator helps idle and fuel pressure.

Have a Happy Independence Day everyone !!!!

I agree with TURBOJOE>Any mods I have done are bolt-ons & can be reversed to stock @ any time.I keep all the stock pieces for a future owner. It's hard to beat a low 11sec. car that will get 20+ mpg with the air on.The looks on the faces of the other guys are priceless when my TTA pulls away from them[almost quietly],compared to the roar of their modified MUSCLE CARS.
I have owned my high performance cars over the 40 years I have had the bug, but,"nothing" puts you back in the seat like a TTA.

The future owner would have that choice.
Personal preference. Many guys like the go-fast goodies.
Car performs better. Many purists & investors don't seem to mind, but,I am sure not everyone has this mindset.

People oftentimes say cars aren't good investments. That couldn't be more wrong ... Just like a stock, it's all about timing.

Consider the guy that buys a new IROC-Z for $16K in 1985, stores it and never drives it, unloads it for $10K two decades later. From an investment point (ignoring pride of ownership), that's not a good one. The guy that buys it in 2006 for $10K, and then resells it in 2007 for $18K, that's not a bad one.

Or you could pick up a Viper GTS in 2005 for low 50's, and resell it the same year for low 60's when the prices jumped. Again, not a bad investment. The guy that paid $76K new ... He didn't do so well.

Getting in just before they pop is what it's about. Just like a stock, most people will sell a car BEFORE it ever really gets moving. People sold GOOG at $200, and they sell low-mileage TTA's for low $20's. Both will have ample opportunity to regret that decision :-)
