Loosing Boost

I'm having a problem maybe someone can help out with. I'm loosing boost between shifts. I leave and have 19lbs in first, when the car shifts second boost dropped to about 10lbs then builds back up to around 19. this takes a second or 2. I found a slight leak and I pulled the turbo and put a gasket between the pass header and the turbo. this helped a little. Now no leak. The delay in boost is killing my e.t. ! I have a new adjustable waste gate. all vacuum lines seem ok. Could the turbo be bad? It only has 17k on the car but it sat not running for 8 years. No oil burning. no shaft play. Anyone ever have this problem?

When this happened to me it was a loose 3" clamp. Are your gaskets in good shape? Sounds like you are blowing off boost somewhere but only through a small leak - otherwise you wouldn't be able to build any boost .... (gasket, wastegate, etc)

What gaskets are you talking about?

Between the IC and turbo, between the IC and throttle body......

What kind of boost controller you using, stock?, RJC ? if you rub the vac. lines and your fingers are black then replace them, on second thought replace them anyhow ( cheap )

Boost controller is stock. Waste gate new is from Kirban and is adjustable. Vac Lines are kind of crappy. I will change them and check it for leaks. Thanks for the help and a place to start. ttarider

Never had that problem before. But...First things I would do is swap chip take it for a drive and see if there are any changes. If that dont work, swap boost solenoid and take for another drive.

I just reread this again, do you have alky on this car? If you have a stock chip and injector's and no alky at 19lbs of boost, and org. fuel pump , well.... maybe you need to fill us in on what if any mods you have...:thumbup:
