LS1 MAF

I'm looking at buying an LS1 MAF off of TB.com. Is this a worthwhile upgrade by itself? I hope to be going with the Gen II translator to go with my extender chip soon as well and wondered if they go hand in hand. Thanks

I bought my TTA last summer and for a 40,000 mile car it did not run very well. Very poor idle quality, generally sounded like it could die at any moment. I did plugs, wires, TurboTweak chip, O2 sensor, etc which helped a little. Turns out the main problem was the MAF. I put a replacement unit in which worked fine for about a week before it died. Went with the 3" LT1 style and translator and it has been running great ever since. I put a K&N cone filter on at the same time - love the turbo whine now :)

Maybe...I did and I blamed it on the translator, which was new. The used LT1 maf I bought *looked* nearly new so I didn't suspect it.

How I figured it out was that it would not max out at 255gph at WOT, so I removed everything and put the original maf back in and all was well again. When fullthrottle had a sale this past winter I bought a new LT1 maf and reinstalled it with the translator and all is good now...it even idles better.

But I fully understand buying a used one and hopefully you'll be good to go.

I'm not out too much, so if it works i'll be happy. I don't have any issues with my stock MAF so at the very least I have an extra one way or another.
