LubeGard Additive For The Automatic Transmission

I talked to the best 200 builder they told me they run hydrolic fluid no adative an only go mid low 9's ?

My grandfather always told me "there's no miracle in a bottle"

But he passed away when motor oil had Zinc dithiophosphate in it....so he never saw a bottle of ZDDP...

But halfway down that page it appears Lubegard has won an Oscar in 1994...so what do I know.

I'll continue to run what the OEM engineers designed it for. Fresh fluid won't break a transmission. If it is slipping, its too late.

jason fresh fluid can break a trans if its changed to much or has alot of wear then changed the detergents eat away

ive ran 1 700r4 for 250k miles no filter change or fluid ... and an allison just changed the spin on filter every oil change for 309,658k miles ... u can change your trans fluid tooo much

we have 3 05 dmaxes now since i got one an stoped driving the gas 8.1 with same trans no problem... we only change the spin on filter

The reason I started this thread, I saw on the Syclone forum where alot of the guys are using a bottle of this stuff when they change their trans. oil on the 700r4. So I was curious if any one was using it on the TTA trans. It could be overkill using it!

I'd agree flushing a trans is bad, but fresh fluid all the time since new won't hurt anything. I personally can't comment on the changing of old fluid...I have read that numerous times before though.

It's because most people won't change it till they have a problem, then they wonder what happened ?

And there is the argument that old dirt, debris, and foreign materials with age "stick" to something and don't cause any issues. When you introduce a new fluid with detergents that are replenished it can loosen the old debris placing it in spots it shouldn't be. This is especially true with flushing.

I'll stick to pan changes more than necessary.

Lubeguard works well. Been around forever and I have seen first hand it help trannies shift better and last longer. Out of all the snake oils in a can this one truly works..

Yes, this stuff worked well for me. Here is what was going on: At WOT shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, it would not shift until I let off the gas a little. Like a valve or something was stuck keeping it from shifting. I knew the TV cable was adjusted right so it has to be something else.

I went to NAPA and got a bottle of lubegard for $11.99. It was well worth it,put it in there and followed instructions and took it for a drive. It does not hang and not shift from 2 to 3 anymore, it performs great.I keep my boost set at about 19 or 20# with 0 knock.

So this is the only problem I have had with my trans. It has never slipped or anything else.

Thanks for the advise Frank!ttarider

I don't personally have knowledge of this particular product, but in general, all fluid companies recommend against additives in their fluids. Particularly today, the interaction between the basestock and the additives is pretty complex and adding something to that mix can have unknown consequences.

I'd ask what problem the Lubeguard is supposed to be addressing and then consider why the base fluid you are using needs that help. I suspect that most transmission fluid problems relate to viscosity shear down. The basestock fo most transmission fluids shears down very rapidly and the viscosity drops. I personally think the better way to address this is to change the fluid and use one with a better basestock that doesn't shear down (e.g. synthetic).

I SWEAR by LubeGuard and I use it in everything. It is the ONLY transmission additive that has been approved to run in GM transmissions. There is no other trans additive that is approved to be used in any car manufacture other then LubeGuard.
I had some trans banging issues with my Honda accord. I started using LubeGuard and it went away in the first use. Over time changing the fluid twice a year and adding LubeGuard it seemed to go away more and more the banging. You could say it was the new fluid as well but I've seen change when I use it.
I run it in my GN's and TTA trans as well. The guy who rebuilds transmission for us local GN guys also sells it. When I took my GN there for the first time to have him work on it, I saw he sells it. It's actually hard to find locally for me. They also sell it for different manufactures. It's not one bottle for all cars. Other guys who run trans temp gauges told me they saw cooler temps just by adding LubeGuard. I've also talked to another Buick mechanic who is local and he swears by it. It seems to make the trans shift just a little more firmer when you use it. All I can say is give it a try and change your trans fluid more often! Keep in mind I'm one of those guys who don't believe in any additives be it oil or trans. I just use the proper fluids. But I'll always add LubeGuard!
