Molded Hood Insulation

Well I would not be interested then. I got a replacement for the MSE from Classic industries and the only thing I dont like about it is the color-it is a light grey and I dont think it would look good under the TTA hood, black or dark charcoal would be better. But it looks fine for the MSE.

I got the one from Classic Ind. one my car now, it is a dark color of gray almost black. It fits fine, but I wished it was molded like the oem one. I guess it will do until I can find another kind.

Thats good to know. The one for the 1989 car must be a different color then, than the 82-84 car. I'll check into it. Thanks. I REALLY like the carmotorsports one with the Turbo logo, but its a little pricey IMO for what it is.

If you read the instructions on how to install it, I don't think it is made to install like that. It conforms to the shape of the hood by gluing it on. I don't think it is thick enough or has enough rigidity to be held in with the pins.
 
Here is a link to the seller's Flickr page with install photos. As you can see from the pics, the insulation is not molded at all, and comes as a flat piece of material. The hood must be removed from the car, sprayed with adhesive, and then the material is pushed into the hood to conform to all the shapes.
While the final appearance looks really nice, I don't think many of us here would want to make something so permanent on our car, or remove the hood to do it for that matter. So, matching up with the original hood insulation and poking a few holes with this material won't work.
