Need help with head lights

Hey guy's,
Like the title says I need help with my head lights they wont go back up. I bought the repair kit to repair the motor but know the lights wont come up at all. I thought I would ask here for help before I start to remove the front bumper or something along those line. Is there an easier way to get to all the bolts to remove the head light motor at this point? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can raise the lights manually by turning the serrated knob thing that spins when the lights go up and down. You have to turn it alot though.

Do not take the bumper cover off. The whole headlight unit should be removed from the radiator core support. The motor then can easily be removed from the side of the unit. Make sure the headlight switch is operating properly before tearing into the headlights.

Will they go down if you crank them up manually? There is a module mounted on the firewall that controls the raise of the headlights. the headlight switch controls the lowering. You can test the motors by applying 12 volt plus and minus to the two wire motor connector. one way goes up reverse the wires to go down.

the entire headlight assembly comes out the top. if both headlights are acting the same, odds are it's not the headlight assembly.

I know that the knobs will make the head lights come up, but I am almost positive that the on on the passenger side will not come up either way. I will try it over this weekend. Can you send me a pic of the location of this module so that I can test this out.

The module is on the firewall with two plugs. If the knob will not operate the headlights up and down than the gears inside are shot.

I've just rebuilt both of mine this summer using Rodney Dickman's kits. The only things that really crap the bed are the 3 little barrels in each unit. All other components are usually fine in this year TA.

If you do find that the motors need to be rebuilt, have patience when removing the units, take your time, and don't have the wife or kids around. Taking the actual motors apart and rebuilding them is the easy part once you have the headlight units out of the car.
