Guys/gals, My wheels are very close to done they to be powered coated gold. I got paint codes, (Thanks Jan), but cant do it that way. So I'm asking if any body can email me pics of their stock wheels, close up, and all, so I can show them. email [email protected]

You know....I took the correct paint codes that Jan has and had the autobody supply store "can pack" 3 cans for me so I could do them with a rattle can....if that's an option for you.
 
Thanks WS6, but the wheels are already hot tanked. The clear was peeling off, and the gold on the wheels were different shades because of fading. He has already different colors from bronze to light gold, just trying to get as close as possible to factory.
 
They did give him a few templates, he will mix 2 colors, but i'm going of of the turbo emblem. Are the wheels and emblems about the same color?

i did the same thing on my 92 a few years back. came out like real good and looks like OEM....

NO, they are NOT the same color, not sure how you can mix paint looking at a pic but i will get you some later today...

Thanks Robert I thought they weren't the same, but my wheels were faded bad. He does have a gold that as far as I can remember was the same looking as my other 87 and 89 GTA's.

Those are the way they are supposed to look, super! I meant to ask you before, but why did they put the wheel balancers on the outside of the wheels?They would be much better on the inside and not over the clearcoat.:yes:

thats how they were when i bought the car 8 yrs ago ... i even put wheel weights on the back side of my duramax dd work truck .... u got to remember it took me 8yrs to wash this car. Never taged or insured in SC

Its still a beautiful car, I didn't mean anything bad. I just thought it was a little unusual seeing the weights on the outside.:cool1:
 
GM used those weights when the car was new. I can see the marks on my rims from where they used to be.
 
Marcel, any photo will not come out and show the correct color.

I would strongly suggest you get a color sample sprayed based on the code I sent you then use that sample to match the powder as suggested that will be the best route to go rather than use a photo that will not match.

Once you sorted it all out and got the powder name/code please post it up ... I got 2 sets of wheels I need to get done at some point and powder would be the way to go to make them last so interested to see how they come out and how well you get the color to match.

Looks like that's what Im going to do Jan. Giving the codes to my brother and he'll paint a sample mail it, then match it with the powder.
