need to remove original rear spoiler for painting

Has anyone removed their rear spoiler and put it back on. I need to take my original rubber spoiler off and paint it because I had it painted in May with it on the car, and they did a terrible job. They painted it about 3 shades to dark. And did not do much prep work. So it needs to be done right. I want to remove and have it painted and put it back on with out damaging it.
I looked at Jasons post for fiberglass spoiler and it helped somewhat. I hope I can get it off without damaging the clips to the side. Is there a special way to do this.

No need to remove spoiler for painting, will have done with it on car. Too much trouble and hastle to remove. Some things are left better off alone.

yeah if you're going to try and repaint the original, you're better off doing it on the car. Although normally this isn't the right way, with how fragile the spoiler is you risk cracking and damaging the spoiler if you remove it. When I took mine off to install my fiberglass spoiler I ended up cracking it in a few places trying to get it to slide in the slots on the side.

Just curious, but why don't you replace it? This is one of those cases where unless the car has less than 1k miles on it I don't think putting a fiberglass spoiler on it is going to hurt the value and it'll be cheaper in the long run.

I thought about replacng in, but I will when it starts to crack.I am surprised it isn't already.
