New Carpet...

Just installed a new carpet this weekend. Got it from Hawk's. I don't know if I like it or not.... 1. The quality is nowhere near OEM. 2. "Molded" doesn't mean molded correctly. I've got wrinkles that I'm hoping time while improve, but I'm not counting on it. 3. The color recommendation is "Cognac" for the 89 TTA. It seems alot deeper...maybe the old one was just really faded:blink:. For the price paid I'm not ecstatic on what a great deal I got!
I've posted some pics....what do you guys think?

The pics don't show well how wrinkled the area really is. I tried to warm up and work it for 2hrs....and that's as good as it got.

Aftermarket carpet is one of those things that some compromises need to considered. I agree it is certainly not like the OEM in fit and finish. But considering the $100 sets from J.C. Whitney, ACC is leaps and bounds better.

And the first was much better than ACC had at the time. The second set needed hours and hours of fitting.

I ordered a set for the 92 T/A from Hawk's and she was correct in the color selection when I argued differently. But once it arrived, and I compared it to the original color that was stuffed under the rear seat it matched.

The last time I had aftermarket carpet fit almost perfectly was on a 1971 T-37 that was 2 piece and was 80/20 loop.

So, to me anyway, as long as the color is damn close I accept fitment issues.

That probably doesn't make you feel better, but at least you know it's common to have trouble with aftermarket carpet.
