New guy here!

Hey guys, figured I outta register here since I figured out what it is I finally want to do with my car later on down the road. I weighed the options of going 383TPI with a leaf blower or 3.8SFI, and for alot of reasons, I decided on the 3.8. Aftermarket upgrades are all over the place, and the kit alone for the 383 would have been over 3k. Also, to me, popping the hood to show off a 3.8 would be more impressive. I know a little stuff about the Turbo Buick family, but, any pointers would be greatly appreciated

Hey Joe,
Check out the article in the new GM High-Tech Performance magazine I talked about in the General Chat above! Maybe you can log into the site, and read more about the conversion! If not, write/email GMHTP, and ask them! Let us know if you find out more!
Other than that, Contact TTA850, he's putting one into a GTA (his red car). He can probally help you more!

Hope this helps,

George

It may not be as simple as just dropping in any 3.8SFI turbo, because the heads from the regular GN 3.8 are a REAL tight fit between the strut towers! But it can be done, I have seen it! I am also speaking from experience, when my dad totalled my TTA, I bought an 84 305 (carburated) regular hardtop firebird and proceeded to make it look identical to an 89 TTA! The engine was a PAIN to fit right, but it can be done, and it looks AWESOME!

PS: I may have mentioned this before, but if I would have known that hardtop TTA's existed and they were worth more that T-top ones I would kept the hardtop instead of cutting and welding the t-tops from wrecked TTA onto the firebird. If you have any questions regarding the engine swap, just ask away and I will answer to the best of my knowledge!
