Hello everyone. Just wanted to take a minute to say hi and type up my first post on this great forum. I don't have a TTA yet, but hope to very soon. Just waiting for the right car to present itself. Have had a couple turbo buicks, just not any TTA's. Looking forward to gettting my TTA and posting about it here!!! Seems like a great place with a great group of people.

The right car would be one that is mostly stock or can easily be converted back to stock and no stories, meaning no major accidents. Basically looking for a clean TTA that has less than 40K miles.
hey and welcome! Keep an eye on ebay. I've seen some deals on there lately. Just keep in mind everyone beats the bag off these cars. So when buying one keep that in mind. I've heard many guys say a little old lady drove it one Sunday a month and it never saw bad weather when the engine,trans, and rear has been out and replaced many times!
I ran into a guy at the track with a beautiful GN the other week. Had about 16K original miles on it. I was talking to him and he told me he bought the car new. I asked him if he drove it much with the low miles. He said everyone of those 16K miles are down the 1/4 mile! :eeks: He said he didn't think any of those miles were on the streets!
So always use caution! When you find something post it on here before you buy it and we'll give it the once over!

I am watching one on Ebay right now. It has 14xxx miles and is pretty close to me. Sent the owner a message asking for some info and he said the car has never been in an accident, but he changed the cam for added performance. Said he has the stock cam. I asked him for the VIN# so I can run a Carfax and am still waiting for a reply.
Have you seen that one? If so, what do you think?

That's the darn truth. It's tough to keep your foot out of these cars. I've had mine almost a year and still looking for excuses to take it out - tempered by not wanting to put miles on it. So it's what you'd call judicious fun. But you can probably bet on having to have a bunch of seals changed if they have not been done before. And get used to a few oil leaks...
Every TTA that is listed on ebay goes right in my watch list! :whistle:
The cam is pretty much an upgrade but I was told unless you go full roller it makes head issues later. Anything inside the engine that is done can always be considered an upgrade and no one would really ever know. The crank is special on these cars so you want to make sure the original is there. Shame about that front plate. Looks like one was on there and was re-drilled. The main issue is it's really hard to tell the condition of the paint with bad pictures.
Those pictures are the kind that could hide many flaws. Always keep in mind someone's idea of mint can be very different of your version of mint! I've ran into that many times my self buying things off ebay. Looks like the headliner and visors need to be redone as well. Add that in with a new wing and you'll be putting some money into to make it nice.
Another thing is you might want to post on the forum if someone is from that area and can go look at it in person and maybe take some better pictures. I've done that many times for guys buying local cars to me.
Even tho there is a reserve on the car I would think his opening bid is pretty close to what it's worth in it's current condition. Make sure you check out and read our sister site as well.. http://89tta.turbobuicks.net/ boatloads of information on these cars there as well. Keep watching and looking. The right car for you will pop up!
I just bought mine after seeing it on eBay (it didn't meet the reserve). It is rougher in person than the 30+ pictures would indicate - pictures can hide quite a bit. That said, I am very happy with it and I am already fixing some of the minor problems and doing A LOT of cleaning.
