Ended up ordering the 26x10.5x16 ET streets and they were here two days later. Got them mounted and balanced today.

On an extra set of wheels?

as an aside...how do you guys keep the tar and burnt rubber of the lower quater panels? Is everybody running mud flaps?

Yep, I have two sets of rear wheels.

I HATE the look of mudflaps. I just wash it after every visit to the track. I try and rub it off before it cools down and hardens. A good rubbing polish can get the hot tar off.

Now you just cant post a pic of new drag radials without a pic of you breakin them in.........

Haha I'm to lazy to remove the street tires and put these on. I am driving the car in two weekends so I'll switch them after that. :wheelchair:

Put a good coat of wax on before you go, it's not too bad getting it off then.

Nice tires, I've never used that size - always went 26x11.5x16 cause I like to run a 10" tire when possible. As they get older make sure to keep an eye on air pressure, M/T's tend to lose air through the sidewall after a while :)

Thanks for the tip.

I would have ordered the 11.5's but the TAI class rules state the tire has to 28x11 or less. It is advertised width, not actual.

How many passes do you get out of a set?

I have seen guys spray a coat of bug and tar remover on the lower rears and then run. once done they would just wipe it off.

Thats a hard question, I go through 2 sets of tires on an average season and get about 100 passes out of a set but I put probrobly 70-80 or so on a new set before the weather warms up and they become inconsistant so I switch to another new set, by the time the weather cools the second set is about worn out and I'll switch back to the first set for the last 20-30 passes of the year. On a good year I'll go through 3 sets of tires, it gets expensive but the payouts of winning help offset it.
