Not 1240?

I talked with the previous owner and he said he got the build nunber from a site that you put in your VIN and it tells you what number car you have. Good thing I didn't get a personalized plate! I've already sent off for the stuff from PHS.

Tell me the last 6 numbers of your vin and I can give you a rough idea of the build #. I would think #1240 should have a vin# in the neighborhood of 245700 to 246100.

When I first started on the computer sites on these cars, everyone wanted my vin number.
No one believed me that I had car #231.
I got the car number when I got my car, back in 1989.
Both Pontiac told me (before PHS sent me the letter), and Scott Kelly from PAS told me.
He even told me all the little sequence numbers for the major components of the car. Just so you know, nothing matches together on the cars.
Too bad, the number on the intercooler would have been nice to match the build number.
We don't need no stinkin badges.

Mine took 3 weeks. The vin seems about right to be 1240. I have a short list of vins and build numbers. I know there is no direct corelation between them, but, from what I've seen, the higher the vin#, the higher the build#. The lowest vin I've seen is 225348 (#2); the highest is 248460 (?). BTW, I've seen some old posts on the "other" website by a member named TTA1240. Look them up, and you may find out more about your car.

Thanks for the replies guys! I figure it should be aroung 12XX. The guy on tb.com is the previous owner of the car. Like I said in the first post, he never sent off for the document from PHS, so HE in fact never new the number of the car.
