Ok PLEASE help me out here!

I have a 1992 RS Camaro and I am planning on putting in a Grand National or TTA engine in it. My first question is what is the difference between the two engines. My second question is where would I find one of these engines. And my third question is how should I do the swap and what would I need? Thanks alot!!!

Hi again Monkie I don't think you are going to find a turbo tranasam drive train so you are going to have to go with the GN setup

Diffrenaces in TTA,GN and your car are

(1)Trans Brace turbo transam has own transbrace for m200 transmission one possilve solution use the 700r4 trans

(2)Pistons and heads The TTA uses a lower profile head from a front drive 3800 car and pistons are changed to reflect this. This is done to clear the AC box and plumbing there are a few ways to go about this... See Group purchase for TTA pistons and locate 3800 heads in salvage yard. delete AC and box and go with GN setup

(3) exaust go to www.atrperformance.com order for TTA

(4) Computer issues. Talk to member boostedtrills I think he has done or is about to convert a third gen

(5) the rear should be upgraded to positraction 3.27- 3.73 work great with these motors and upgrade brakes to 1LE

CHECK ALL OLD POSTS IN THE WEBSITE look for others who have done what your about to do Mike

Thanks alot man! You gave me some good info. I have been looking at alot of post on this site. I think I am definitely going with a TCed V6 rather than a V8. V8s are just played out I think. Dont get me wrong I love 350s but there is just something about beating a V8 with a V6 if ya know what I mean. Anyways, I should go with a GN engine? Is it just as powerful as the TTAs? And where should I get the engine from? If I can I would rather get a crate engine. But Im gonna need to do alot more homework on the turbo chargers. Geeze, I understand math class better than some of the things you guys talk about on here. Nothing like a super charger. Anyways thanks alot for the help and I would love some more. Thanks!

Was the Mustang actually racing you? Musta been a V6, because I had an RS 3.1L, and I never came close to any V8 powered car!

oh yea forgot the manual trans. you will have to ditch it...... it will not hold up to the torque and turbos work better with automatics. In an auto trans u don't have to let off the gas to switch gears so u stay in boost thoughout the shifts. GM did make a test mule with stick but it did not work well

Yea I figured I had to get rid of the manual since you cant use it in a 350 because of to much torque I figured the turbo would eat it up too. But I would like to keep a manual if I could maybe a T56 six speed. I know an auto is better but is a manual THAT bad for a turbo? I love shifting the gears tho!

yes a manual is that bad for a turbo car, you would spend half your time building the boost back after you shift each time (unless you can keep a load on the engine between shifts) and GM makes the best auto's available
